    Supp Reserves or ED&T?

I'm moving out to Alberta soon and I was told since the move is permanent my best option would be to go supp reserve. I know I could attach post or join another armoured unit, but I don't want to be armoured recce anymore. I was told there would be a lot of paperwork to do if I wanted to switch...

Swearing in and beginning BMQ with the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment

Your CoC will have more info for you in regards to your kit. I don't know how the E&K runs things. For BMQ it will be run on weekends until January (ish) then you will do BMQ Land. Expect to work hard, and have "fun"

You should have started running a long time ago.

Component Transfer ( CT ) - Reserve to Regular

If there aren't any positions for this FY then that means there is nothing. You'll likely have to wait until after April 2014 when the new FY starts (which sucks cause I'm trying to do the same thing you are haha we both get to play the waiting game)

    Ceremonial Guard 2013

The Ceremonial Guard started up a while ago. When I did it back in 2010 we started in June.

Body building and the Canadian forces

I've seen some pretty big guys in the CF running around. I have a friend who's dad is a Padre who competes in the over 65 age group of bodybuilding. I recall in weight room in Gagetown there was a poster of members who competed in bodybuilding, but it's been a long time since I've been out...

    Special Forces?

Stay in your lane. You're not even in and you're talking about JTF2 and special forces. You're giving out incorrect information on the unit and how to apply, which you clearly know nothing about. Anyone can apply to join the unit but it doesn't mean that everyone will get in. You have to...

    Not meeting physical requirments

With that kind of attitude, don't go to basic until you know 100% that you can pass the fitness test. Don't join planning to go to Warrior platoon.

    Not meeting physical requirments

She obviously thought wrong then. Like others have said, the standards are out there the internet so she should have been practicing well before she arrived for BMQ.

Treatment of gays through BMQ and Service?

A few people know about my sexual orientation and no one cares as long as I do my job. Sexual orientation doesn't and shouldn't matter. What matters is that you do your job as a member of the military.

    Supplements on BMQ (merged)

Once you're done all your courses and posted to a unit, the canex usually sells protein powder and a few other supplements like creatine. Wait until then.

    be prepared.

No....no they won't. You need to arrive already in shape for basic. Otherwise you could fail your PT test and go on RFT (if that even still exists) which from what I hear is not a fun place to be. For mental toughness you need to tell yourself it's just a game and it will get a lot better once...

    Trades

Talk to a recruiter and see what all is available. None of us on here can give you an idea of what would be right for you. Only you can make that choice.

    Traffic Technician ( merged )

\ It doesn't matter what people say, you get posted where the military needs you. You can put your preferences but that doesn't mean you'll get it.

Your best best would be to ask the recruiter.

Physical Fitness (Jogging, Diet, Cardiovascular, and Strength )

Bicep curls do nothing in the grand scheme of things as the bicep is such a small muscle. I don't see why people are so fascinated by it. No one cares how big your arms are or how much you curl. They care about how much you can run and ruck. In my opinion, training purely for looks is pointless...

    Traffic Technician ( merged )

It has been covered before. The search button is your friend! http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/46821.25.html (scroll down) Yes Traffic Techs will do BMQ-Land (the new name for SQ) if they are in the Army (or posted to an Army base) It's not that bad of a course, don't worry.

    Question about infantry

Getting commissioned from the ranks is possible but it's difficult. If you really want to be an officer, apply to be one. Though if you're not sure, weight the pros and cons to each position. An officer won't be breaking down the doors and being the first one in the door, so if you want to do...
