Would you enlist in the US Marines if it were open to Canadians?

I'd consider it.  The CF would still be my main choice, but if something happens that would make the CF less desirable to join, or more difficult (budget cutbacks, personel reductions, etc.), then yes, I'd consider the USMC.

Only 5 credits? According to the DND Recruiting website So, minimum of 16 and Grade 10, which is roughly 16 credits (when I was in High School).

    WANTED: JTF-2 Recruiting Poster

You could make one. Look up some cool images from the net (www.militaryphotos.net is a good resource. Lots of pictures posted daily on their forum). Just grab some good ones, and throw together a funky poster, and post "JTF-2" at the top. Of course, make sure you document where you get the...

Military Brats Born Oversea's Not Canadian's?! Even if in a Canadian overseas hospital!?!

You know, sometimes, when I hear about stuff like this, it makes me want to reconsider moving to another country.  I doubt I ever will, but it's always there to consider.

    BMQ and Guns

A rifle is a type of gun, like a shotgun, or a handgun/pistol, or a machine gun. The term rifle comes from the spiraling of the barrel back in the really old days (rifling a barrel). I wonder where people started thinking that a rifle is not a gun.

    F2000-What do you think?

Why not? Didn't the CF use FN FAL's as the main service rifle before the C7? And doesn't FN make the C6 GPMG as well as the C9 LMG?  It seems that, of any non-Canadian builder/supplier, FN would be one of the most likely to look at for replacements. However, since the C7A2 mid-life upgrade...

    Medical Just came Back

Because your personal doctor knows your heath better than someone who only has your file to go over.  They're also in a better position to administer tests to double check your health than someone on the other side of the country.

    Must Have Kit, Canadian Style

Howabout a uniform? It could get pretty cold with just some socks to cover you. Unless you're one of the RHCP, then socks are all you need.

    The No-Bull Kit List

Actually, if you look at the post right above mine, the poster is asking if this is a common thing (well, that's the impression I get when I read it), and I was saying that it was (and a little bit of why).

    The No-Bull Kit List

It's quite common for soldiers to compliment (or "replace") thier issued gear with personal, after-market equipment so that they are better able to do their job. Items can range from things that the issued equivalent might be lacking in areas or are uncomfortable for the soldier (restricting...
