    Respect our values or Leave

While I agree the government should never support religious events at all, if they do, they should not support ones that can be viewed as hateful. Mackay is right, in my opinion, to cancel this particular appearance. This does NOT mean that the government is censoring anybody, it merely means...

Boot cleaning / polishing / care of

If the CF regs don't specifically say you can or cannot paint your boots, then to me, it sounds like this should be up to your CoC. So with that said, I believe the correct response would be to go to your chain of command and bring it up to them. They will give you a definitive answer on...

    Dissapointing day.

On top of that, you also have to consider, as far as setting yourself apart from the group, anything helps. Do you do sports? Start. Are you in good shape? You better be come next year. Are you in a leadership position? Get in one. You get the idea.

    I can't explan my job

This is a strange question. For me, anyway, it sounds like it would be a very easy one to answer. "What do you do?" Army reserve. "What is army reserve?" Part-time member of the Canadian Forces. "What trade?" Infantry. "What's infantry?" Part of the Combat Arms branch that specializes in...

Perception of MP’s by other Military Members?

MPs, in my experience, have been nothing short of excellent at their jobs. Considering the environment of their profession, and the profession they work, I think they go beyond just doing a fine job.

    Introduction and question.

You have the opportunity to appeal decisions that you do not agree with, but remember that the CF have strict policies on everything. It may have been miscommunication at some level, but either way, you have the opportunity to sort it out with medical staff.

    Call of Duty: Black Ops

Wait... you're saying MW:2 is realistic, and insulting someone who says it isn't? I'm just curious, for chuckles. What do you find realistic about it? What exactly resembles reality?

Unknown future civvy job location; where and when do I apply for PRes now?

Assuming you're talking about reserves, the unit you join will be the ones planning your BMQ. So no, you have to be assigned to a unit before taking BMQ, and in your case, you'll have to know which unit you're joining before any of that occurs.

What's the food like on course? (BMQ, DP, ect...) [Merged]

Yes. As I stated in my previous post, the CF does offer different options for food, healthy and unhealthy alternatives. During basic, all members get introduced to a class that educates what kind of meals are best for post-fitness activities, but it relies on the member to follow up on that and...

What's the food like on course? (BMQ, DP, ect...) [Merged]

As far as specialized diets go, you *usually* have various options when you're eating and, yes, there are vegetarian options available. As far as culturally specific diets, to my knowledge, they are not offered (but if someone has more experience requesting one, they may add their comments). The...

    Credit Check Superthread- Merged Topics

Nobody knows if you will make it through or not. Assuming things are all equal, I'd hire a guy with better credit than another guy, so take that for what it's worth.

Speeding / Traffic tickets during application [Merged]

Are you in yet? Because you do not need a civilian driver's license to drive military vehicles, as you will earn a special military driver's license called a DND 404. Although having a civilian driver's license and skill driving a motor vehicle is definitely a benefit before taking the driving...

Knee injury and its effect on my BMQ date.

If your knee is injured, you won't be going to BMQ until it's healed. It's really not complicated.

On the right track? Asking for the correct information at the CFRC.

Typically, if there is nowhere for your file to go, it would be a waste of time to complete your application, especially since much of it would have to be re-done next year anyway. A reserve unit's recruiter can tell you whether there are vacancies in their reserve unit or not. That is about as...

Tamil migrant ship headed for BC (Arrived 13 Aug 2010)

It is difficult to watch Canada turn into a safe haven for terrorists from all over the world. I imagine even those ineligible for refugee status will be staying in the Canadian prison system, because I doubt Canada will send people back to their home country if they're going to be...

On the right track? Asking for the correct information at the CFRC.

Make sure to write down the questions you'd like to ask. But the first question you should ask, since it's the most important, is the status of your application. Since it's reserves, you could also contact your recruiter(s) and inquire about vacancies. Look into other reserve units in your...

Education Requirements to become a MP or MPO

It's best to contact your recruiter. Consider that the requirements listed on the Forces website are minimum requirements only. A person with higher qualifications will obviously be more competitive for the job, and considering the economy right now, the chances that more qualified/more...
