    Political Correctness gone too far?

I think whoever you talked to at the city of Calgary is full of it.  The terms altered and unaltered are one set of proper terms and have been around longer than spayed and neutered.  For example, look to the Canadian Kennel Club's terms or any other kennel club for that matter and you will find...

    Smaller cars.

I have a '99 with 230,000 km on it.  I've never had a better car than this Mazda.  I'm pissed they stopped making the Protege though, what were they thinking??

    9mm, Too old?

As mentioned before, I've found that most stoppages in the Browning are attributed to the mag; either the lips are damaged or the mag spring needs to be replaced.  When the user changes to a good mag, usually the problems disappear.  I've never heard of spontaneous firing before in this weapon...

Do we burn threads to prevent fraying?

Okay, I think you're all overanalyzing this just a little bit.  Click lighter, touch to thread, as the burning thread hits the main fabric smack with bottom of lighter to put it out and crush the burnt end.  Voila..

Holy jeepers! Did you see the look on the kids' faces?  They think she's a nutbar.  I think someone is off her meds.

Marauder, I don't know of any in Canada that are really worth anything but I'll ask around and see if I can find out.

    Purpose of Reserve Maintenance trades?

King, My response was toward the belief that a QL5 Reg force tech could sign off, excluding the reserve tech who is also QL5 qualified.  I realize the QL3/4 cannot technically sign off on work orders although that happens as well,  as we all know.  When I was in 2 Svc Bn I always signed off on...

    Purpose of Reserve Maintenance trades?

Not sure where this comes from.  Is this your particular shop's SOP?  I can tell you for certain that there are many places where this isn't happening.  From a weapons view, if you are QL5 (small arms) qualified you are qualified to repair small arms, period;  regardless of whether the reg force...

    Purpose of Reserve Maintenance trades?

King, That's exactly my point.  It's not effective employment.  See my first post regarding this issue.  If we can get a mandate to provide second line maintenance to local reserve units we will do several things.  These include maintain proficiency on weapons (or vehicles) we are trained to...

    Loggie Question

They have none at dockyards?  If they don't have LOG I'm sure they have Canada's at least.  Someone at your unit may be able to help you out.

    Purpose of Reserve Maintenance trades?

Weapons techs are being promoted to Sgt.  They just haven't decided whether the 6A is a requirement or not.  It's all quite up in the air at the moment apparently.  As for getting the work, we're working on that...

    New Army.ca Style

Mike, looks great.  My only beef is the quote box.  I find the green with the black text is difficult to read now where it wasn't before.  Can you lighten the background?? Cheers.

    The Capital Punishment Debate

Of course not.  They should have been executed for what they did before.  Whether it is a deterrent is not an issue to me.  See my post above for the reasons I believe CP is viable and necessary.  It is a punishment.  It is revenge; I just don't see what's wrong with revenge.

    The Capital Punishment Debate

I care.  My cousin was brutally murdered in 1983 by a pair of brothers who had been released from prison while the justice system hoped they wouldn't do it again.  One is set to be released in the next 1 1/2 years (the other is dead already).  If he was dead there would be no reason to worry...
