I'm a reservist, and after reading this I'm not really sure about how I feel about Ptes going on their PLQ. I know some people just have that "natural" ability to lead, but there are also some people who are severely lacking at it, and I think it Ptes its hard to tell which one you are so early...

I'm out in Wainwright right now doing BTE 05. It's cold. Pack for the cold; ie fleece, long underwear, jacket, toque...that sort of stuff. This is a serious ex. Lots going on, lots of stuff to remember. I'm out as a reservist too and its a lot different then any exercise I have ever been on...

Hmm, Apparently I would be going working in an RRB det. My unit had no information on the exercise at all, they just said I would leave Sept 10th probably and be home Oct 31st, or around there. -KaT

A lot of things have been phased out of the SQ in Shilo. I'm not to sure why, I know time was a big factor but there were other reasons I'm sure. The SQ in Shilo is now only 3 weeks instead of 4. That way there is time to get troops out to other training exercises like SG in Petewawa. -KaT

Well it's been pretty quiet around this forum the last couple of days. I just wanted to say good luck to everyone who is heading out on courses, especially you BMQers...good luck you'll enjoy it. I'll be leaving for Kingston tomorrow for my QL3 course, hope to see some of you's there. Have fun...

On SQ you will fire your C7 only during the FTX..blanks only of course. the C6 on the other hand was phased out of the SQ in Shilo, most other SQ's as I understand still do teach it. -KaT

While your on your BMQ in Shilo you will go to the ranges once at the end of your BMQ course for your C7 shoot. During your SQ you will go to to C9 range once, and the gernade range once. -KaT

The NavRes course that is held in CFB Borden is equivalent to the Reg Force BMQ. It's a hard course but a good one thats for sure. Don't get to discouraged, you'll have a good time, especially knowing a lot of the info already, just don't become one of "those" people...lol Good Luck -KaT

Congrats on making in through the long process. Did they say that you wouldn't make it to Shilo? Because you still have a chance, I know a couple people who were sworn in with less then 3 days before Shilo. If they want you there, you'll get there... Congrats again, good luck. -KaT

The BMQ that is ran in Borden is for the Naval Reserve and some Air Reserve. It's a great course, I went through it 2 years ago...It's a good time.. -KaT

Well it used to really be GUN CAMP Last October we did everything, C6, C9, 9mm, Rocket Launcher (uhh Can't remember what its actual name is) and the obstacle course. We had a great time. The one last May we did Rapelling, Grenades, C6, Obstacle Course. The Saturday night BBQ and Mess is always...

Yeah, I was kinda worried it was going to be really shitty, but it was pretty good, I had a good time. I thought it was a good challenge but not a bag drive. The best part was the mess on Saturday night  :P -KaT RUFF RYDERS RULE!!!
