Self Defence in Canada (split from Gun Control 2.0)

Or to quote the immortal Ralph Klein: Shoot, Shovel, Shut-Up… *to be clear I am not endorsing that activity. A chipper/shredder and lye is a much better option ;)

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

It all depends what one considers a flight hour. A lot of the F-35 costs have average ordnance expenditures, and the infrastructure to house them. It isn't as comparable as blade hours are counted for vertical lift (albeit some countries skew their AH costs with ordnance as well).

Self Defence in Canada (split from Gun Control 2.0)

Reasonable Person criteria is designed to take the average view of the population of the region and put them in the shoes of the individual. Yes the circumstances are taken into account, so the expectation is that someone with family that was mobility limited would not have the ability to...

    Informing the Army’s Future Structure

Which is IMHO f’d up as it takes 6+ months work up. The current system doesn’t really support any positions over WO or Captain in the PRes as those holes they fill are below Coy level.

The Great Gun Control Debate- 2.0

I think his point was more that sending the Army to get guns was a fools errand and would result in resistance.

    Informing the Army’s Future Structure

The cynical would say Cannon Fodder ;) But yes that sort of role would be massive for Canada simply due to geographic size. Again totally different culture. It would be nice if Canadians had the same outlook.

    Informing the Army’s Future Structure

Not realistically. While some places have fantastic climbing walls, none have systems that can be used with weather and winds. Same for jumping - racks and AC drills is a minor part of the task. Shooting needs to be not just on the static range, and needs to be done at night. As you can...

    Informing the Army’s Future Structure

Reserve forces are always gonna have an experience issue, not doing something day and a day. Clearly there is a Delta between those that do that. But if implemented properly ones “active“ time afterwards should be enough to at least maintain the knowledge and slightly improve it. All of that...

    Informing the Army’s Future Structure

The Reserves can if structured to support that. Which could mean a lot of Class C for courses, as well as annual periods of mandatory training.

    Informing the Army’s Future Structure

The ARNG says yes. Agreed. Any significant equipment for the PRes will need to be held at Training Centers. With Reg Force Maintenance cells. The CA’s biggest issues are the Symmetrical Cap badge fights that everyone needs to have a piece of every pie. Put Armour and Mech Inf units in...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

The same Swedes who wanted to replace their Gripens with the F-35? Just checking

    Informing the Army’s Future Structure

Well unfortunately a Res Service BN can’t do a lot. So it’s more practical to switch Reg Combat Arms to CSS roles - and have more PRes Cbt Arms…

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

The Gripen is a dead platform. Investing in it at this juncture is akin to buying the old British submarines, and look how well that worked out.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Given the F-35’s combat record so far it’s impossible to argue against it from a logical standpoint. The only practical pairing would be with something like the F-15 EX to offer an airframe with a larger payload, and even then I don’t think it is very practical for Canada unless you are...

The Great Gun Control Debate- 2.0

Technically they had another party make them under a marking variance with ATF as they don’t actually make guns. They have an FFL/SOT so are legally a manufacturer, with the understanding they don’t physically manufacture them. It was a fairly small run done, IIRC 3 or 4 different times over...

I can’t wait for F-35’s and F-15 EX’s. Yup you showed us down here :ROFLMAO:
