Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

Really hard to track the latest "unspent" numbers due to how the budget is presented but it must be near about 2 billion from pay alone with our near 20000 empty positions. Theres also the issue of a lot of CAF cash being spent on DEI initiatives. Lots of very expensive groups having to be...

Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

Turns out they lied and they're cutting. Big shock of course https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/federal-government-looking-to-cut-1-billion-from-national-defence-budget/ar-AA1hqWzh?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=81e51d92c80344e888ebe4cdbe725d5b&ei=6#image=1

    Avro Arrow RL-206

Again this kinda goes to the point that pursuing this program was the death knell of native fighter development. No one was going to buy a non native jet engine to put in their planes and with us knowing what we do now they would have just shut production of this new engine with the proceeding...

    Avro Arrow RL-206

I actually just read about this the other day. The Brits were looking at potentially buying into the Avro Arrow however they quickly came to the conclusion that this wasnt the type of aircraft they would be needing in the near future. They cancelled their own planned interceptor and nearly...

    Avro Arrow RL-206

The difference is that the Arrow was never going to be anything other then an interceptor. That style of aircraft (the design) wasn't going to practical for a multirole fighter, reconnaissance plane, strike fighter, etc. It was also not as competitive as other designs our allies were cooking up...

Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

With the way and amount of money being thrown at Ukraine I wouldn't surprised if nearly all new spending is deferred until the next election as theres enough money going out the door that can be labeled as defence spending that it might look like an effort to up the numbers.

    Updated Army Service Dress project

Seeing a lot of people on here who aren't happy about the move away our traditional ranger green tunic. Heres my proposal for the CAFs dress uniform for the 21st century. And no cap badges!

M1 Abrams tanks and M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, are currently “way too heavy,” and “complex” to be sustained

Ironically with the way Artillery has been treated as a branch in Canada we seem to be pushing for the opposite

    Informing the Army’s Future Structure

Yes the RSS and the battalion level amount to around 500 or so thanks to unit taskings. From there you have 10 brigades and 5 division headquarters, as well as ASUs. This adds up to a surprising amount of people to make no mention of the Class B at every unit and their HQ. All I am saying is...

    Informing the Army’s Future Structure

Just some musing after reading these posts over the last couple years. My scheme doesn't involve new pers per say but relies on the consolidation of regional and reserve formations in way that still leaves a bit of room for regiments of old but not kingdoms. A huge issues I see is that the...

Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

September 6, 2023 – Defence Stories Many of you will have heard by now about efforts underway by the Government of Canada to bring the growth of government spending back to a pre-pandemic path. This was announced in Budget 2023 [Chapter 6: Effective Government and a Fair Tax System | Budget...

    Military Justice

I mean the "average risk to offend" rating isn't surprising for this guy considering how he as a new troop just asks his more senior coworker on a domestic operation if they want to have sex for which they give them the old "no thanks I don't really know you that well, only for them to grab them...

Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

Very telling that the PMO is again trying to push the CAF down the armed disaster response force model that many higher ups were reportedly being told. The goal being that only CANSOFCOM would see deployment outside of Canada and would be the countries sharp stick.

    Informing the Army’s Future Structure

Ironically it appears that unit groupings/amalgamations are still moving forward. But without any other changes to training and employment the "leadership" at these consolidated units likely wont know what to do with a company on ex. Personally I would like to see us adopt a USNG style method of...

    Informing the Army’s Future Structure

No I believe that has all been kiboshed. There will largely be no change in formations but reserve units will be required to have formations generated by the units themselves and on call as required
