Boot, General Purpose (Mk III acting/interim replacement)

Had a pair of Mk3s, and a pair of the new ones for IAP/BOTP. Wore the new ones 90% of the time. Cloth perferated liner inside means you don't sweat right into the leather/back into your socks. Soles are nice and squishy.. unfortunately they dont sound all that great when marching. long...

    Basic sept 4th

It is true, supposedly the course was booked originally for the 4th, and no one told my Clerk that they changed it to the 28th. What sucks what I was on my way to Kamloops for a last weekend Ultimate tournament. Booked the hotel, paid the field fees, everything. Then as I was just driving out...

Did anyone else get the frantic phone call from their CFRC today saying.. "We messed up, you fly out Sunday the 27th, and start on the 28th"?

    Shipping vehicle/Storing Vehicle.

Thanks guys, I knew I'd seen that somewhere before. Just couldn't find it again. I called local storage and it was $60/month for outdoor spaces, but it seems those are all full locally. An indoor spot, which they have tonnes of, are $150/month. Seems a little steep to me, and for some reason I...

I'll be there Sunday. Hopefully weather permitting, I'll be flying shotgun in my dads airplane. And it will probably be on the static display. Big yellow amphibion.

    ACS Anyone? - Sept

Sorry I didn't mean toronto actual, i meant the DRDC. They told us not to wander around DRDC. Of my course.. I just recounted. 6 passed 2 failed. srr for not being clear. We didn't drink at all. We were told by pretty much everyone... don't drink, try to stay away from caffine and anything...

    ACS Anyone? - Sept

When we were in Toronto.. we were told not to deviate from where ever we were told to go. From the impression I got they didn't want us wandering around at all. Maybe we just got a grumpy gate gaurd. As for pass fail. ACS was 8/10... they said that it was unusually high. Also remember while in...

Becoming a Pilot in the CF.

What JMnavy said is important. Definitely keep in touch. I think I only got called once or twice during the entire process. Most of the time I'd call up, and when I said my name the clerk (I don't know if I was lucky, but in my opinion I had a great clerk) would instantly recognise it and ask...

    DRDC med results - when?

I did my DRDC visit in the end of Febuary, and called every few weeks to see if they had them back at the recruiting center. They had nothing right up until early May... then they conditionally swore me in, and the morning before the ceremony the clerk finally got the papers and updated my...

    Flight Simulator

Flight simulator is not ACS.. True. But.. Getting used to how an aircraft reacts, and getting used to the steps for scanning provided in your blue ACS booklet, will help when you get into the machine in Trenton. Be it a stick, or a yoke on your simulator, knowning that forward goes down, and...

    Knife Question

The Canadian Forces no longer issues the large throwing knife as you mentioned. After a lengthy selection process they decided to go with the Trident throwing system. It comes in two flavours, the collapsable, for Para-Infantry, and the standard for Infantry. It comes with an easy extraction...

    The air is tense

That's what I meant. My dads got an amature.. or experimental? aircraft outside our house. I can never keep all the terms straight. Either way, the Captain and the Major at ACS said that they "thought" that a rec licence would be enough to show an "improved skillset" but I guess they were wrong...

    The air is tense

Kid-X, did you have any sim time before hand? any flight experiance? I heard  a rumor while i was at ACS that to reapply after failing the first time, you could pull it off with an Amature licence... a PPL is better because it gives you instrument time, but if money is an issue, it might be...

    The air is tense

Goodluck, I scanned the sheet back and forth about 15 times rappidly before I finally got a hold of myself.. calmed down and read it through once completely. Damned French is all first, and I was in no mood to switch my brain over to French.
