Please ignore the douche host and focus on Metal Storm, new technology for launching any type of munition faster than even electric chain guns:

Rumour also had it that the Russians attempted it with some BMDs/BMPs loaded full of troops and were not that successful in getting combat effective (re: alive) soldiers on the objective.
Unsure if there is any validity to it or if it's just an old wive's tale.
And that's where I'm coming from: All the references I have seen would suggest they are related but not in the way that everyone seems to get worked up about.
I do not think that the 60mm was going to be around for a lot longer and then all of a sudden the C16 came along and someone said "this...
But what you are discussing is a very specific arc of employment, and yes I still carry my compass for just such an occasion (or sitting in a trench and wanting a static bearing).
That is the same as having a knife for doing something and a gun for doing something else.
Congratulations to you guys for getting into the Infantry at a time when it's quite difficult because the ranks are so full.
Welcome to the awesomest (tm) trade ever.
Some other Army deep down hate it that 99% of what they do is to support us, but don't ever say you're better than them because...
Today while on my back on a hospital table, I looked down to see smoke emanating from what used to be my fertility and I didn't cry.
Thank god I didn't smell it or I likely would have thrown up at minimum.
I used to feel sorry for myself in terms of postings being in The RCR (Oromocto/Fredericton is my best hope, certainly better than Petawawa/Pembroke).
I missed the boat on London and Germany, and nothing that will bring me to Kingston or Edmonton.
Then I learned where fighter pilots have to...
Mike,
And I think you've hit a perfect point there. I'm as much of a GPS believer as a person can be, but still not silly enough to rely entirely on it.
The key fault with the civilian versions is that if a person only cares about how far until their next turn, they risk not being able to...
Can anyone prove that the 60mm being cut is specifically because of the adoption of the C16?
I have heard everyone from DLR to LGen Leslie compare the two and I get the feeling that the 60's retirement is more due to it's age and condition than it has to do with capability.
It seems just a...
PanaEng,
It's not so much that there are strings so much as their seemingly too-high location which is not at the natural waistline but a couple ribs up.
I think argument over it being for the LAV right now is a non-starter, no more relevant than saying how right/wrong a Browning .50 cal would be on a B17 bomber.
The same way it has been mounted on everything over its life cycle, so has a C6, and over time so will a C16.
The September 2010...
Hopefully we follow suit and get a handful of young lads a VC before it's too late and we all trade our weapons in for blue berets.
We've now cycled tens of thousands of people through Kandahar and been in thousands of TICs, so somehow I don't think giving out 3-4 of them would cheapen it...
Congrats to everyone who has deserved this for so long.
If I read it correctly, the 04 Haiti mission will have a different ribbon than the 10 Haiti medal (humanitas).
