For the various qual/skill badges that will come about.... Agreed.
Div/Bde patches are to be issued. But then, does anyone (outside the Good Idea Fairy Office) really want Div and/or Bde patches anyway?
Yay. Another "squirrel" to distract away from the larger failings of our procurement system.
Can't deliver vehicles on time.
Can't buy (new) fighters.
Can't buy (good) boots.
Etc. Etc.
But hey, here are some nifty velcro garrison badges. See! The system works.
But then again, I...
That's my take on it in general. Full text of the bill is here:

Non-Restricted and Restricted classes would be gone. Replaced by "Hunting" and "Circumscribed".
Circumscribed is effectively Restricted...
It was not built on the Gen-III LAV platform. The LAV-105 vehicle in the photo was built on a modified USMC LAV-25 chassis, originally built by Diesel Division General Motors. (And which, after being sold by GM, became General Dynamics Land Systems - Canada. Not General Dynamics Canada, the...
I remember the original trials with the LPT turret, which turned into the MGS eventually.
The USMC LAV-AG was an entirely US project which wound up cancelled with a few prototype vehicles built.
It's a little surprising to see Canadian base markings on a shell casing used in a US funded development test activity, especially when conducted in the USA.
On an old Judas Priest kick lately. Updated my catalog with downloads of some of their 1970's albums I last had (ok, still have) on cassette.
I'd forgotten how solid Stained Class is. Halford did a pretty mean live version of the title track with his solo band.
New album and tour in the...
I lived there for a while a few years back. Not in Sydney, but I spent a fair bit of time there.
Dirt Digger covered it off pretty well, but a couple of other ideas:
Fort Denison - The small island in harbour with the Martello Tower. The ferry runs there from Circular Quay.
If you can get...
"Yes" to both questions. There's publicly available information out about the US Army dropping the Stryker MGS out of a C17, a few years back, to prove it was possible. I don't know if they carried through with certification, but the original article would imply that they did not. Getting a...
George,
Without going into any real detail:
1. The light clusters can be removed through the front of the bumper to change the lights.
2. No. The lights are in the bumper. Like the (old?) LAV3, the bumper is separate from the hull.
I haven't stayed at a Sheraton recently, but I can confirm the CF qualifies for the government rate at Marriott hotels. Used it a little over a week ago. They do include a "subject to availability" disclaimer, but (knock wood) I have never had that happen.
I am not aware of any such installation or trials on the Cougar. It's possible a few were used for general platform tests, but nothing with the intention of fleet-wide implementation.
No. Add-on armour provisions were not part of this mod.
Cheers.
The ASLAV-PC should provide the better start platform. The basic hull is closer to the Bison (rear sidewalls and ramp), Michelin XML tires are there, and the configuration of the forward hull is, in general, closer to Bison.
The muffler can is the same - you'll just need to make a different...
