Ottawa is weighing contracting directly with the South Korean or German and Norwegian governments instead of manufacturers in its coming purchase of a fleet of submarines, the commander of Canada’s navy said.
The federal government recently announced it has narrowed its hunt for up to 12...
Hanwha Ocean and DSME are partnered on KSS-III builds. They both have submarine production lines and Hanwha has recently increased their facilities. So I don’t see a Polish build of 4 having a major impact. SK needs to start cutting steel on new orders to keep the work force busy.
The 2nd column seems to be a purchase we should have made years ago to Ukraine. but unfortunately I feel as if Ukraine might not make it to the new year.
The fact that we are still upgrading mk48 to 7AT since 2014 satisfies the definition of insanity. Sounds like a make work program. That doesn’t get us the latest transmitter/receiver. We are lucky if a single sub can leave the harbour. I have my doubts that we would ever fully load a Vic. We...
My understanding is RCN wants to be able to have 3 subs on patrol at any given moment. It’s not as thou we have enough Mk48 ADCAPs to fully arm more than 1 submarine. Therefore we will need to buy a large amount of weapons regardless.
There aren’t any NATO standard torpedoes. All 5 Euro sub producing countries use home grown torpedoes. Add to that the USA and that’s 6 different heavy weight torpedoes. UK and France are the only NATO countries using tube launched cruise missiles; again not the same. If we use SK weapons then...
About 4 years ago I was speaking to someone at U of T receivables office and they counted on foreign students (mostly Chinese) to bring in 50k per year. They are always adding more residences. It is being operated as a for profit corporation.
Excuse my ignorance, but what is a petrel and chimo? I thought the Sikorsky CH148 was named Cyclone and the Augusta CH149 was named Cormorant? I understand that the some VH71 Kestrel are being converted to Cormorants.
Don’t even think about changing a thing on the River class. Banish that thought. We don’t need to give Irving and Lochmart any excuse to drag out delivery or raise the cost (it’s already eye watering).
CUSMA is the only thing stopping Trump from targeting all Canadian and Mexican products. It would be gone in an instant if it didn’t have tRump’s name on it.
I think the 21 was the first calculator with a function key. In high school, some of us were in awe of our Algebra teachers’ HP21. Sad to say, it was years before any teacher allowed a scientific calculator in class.
Not us. The Brit’s offered them to Australia. Aussies sent a team over to UK to inspect. And then turned them down and then built Collins. Chretian hummed and hawed because he didn’t want to spend a dime on CAF. I’m guessing it was take em or no more subs for you. And we’ve been struggling ever...
Grok is not an engineering tool. It is simply an advanced word processor that strings phrases together. The silly idea that to eliminate the VLS feature by sealing them or removing them after manufacturing is beyond logic. If you don’t want the VLS feature then don’t put it in at time of...
