I'm with you EITS.
It may just be the way the article is written but it seems the plaintiffs aren't the ones taking things seriously, and no matter how you look at it, they are taking resources, and potentially public good will, away from the serious fight (the NVC lawsuit).
Let's see: fellow...
What, pushups, situps and running a mile and a half?
You can throw around all the training you think puts you ahead of the rest of your coursemates, but really, what was the goal of WFT?
To get you into the same shape as everyone else who comes to BMQ WITHOUT needing 3-6 months of paid...
I really wouldn't be basing your career around the fact that you are proud you went to WFT.
That 95% of the forces who managed to meet the standard (first time) might not share your enthusiasm.
Monty Python is completely relevant to this thread.
*not slamming TV's post, rather linking the absurdity of making 'high vis rank badges' to a monty python skit.*
Sorry for the inadvertent slam TV.
But the crux of the issue for most of us is:
What is broke that needs fixing? Were people getting injured after walking into a lamp-post because they were too fixated on deciphering whether it was a WO or a MWO that was walking towards them? What problem is this fixing?
It's window dressing...
I always fought back against the 'rank badge on tacvest'. The people who needed to know who I was, knew already, and if they didn't know but needed then I just introduced myself...usually with my first name only.

Who cares?
The only resentment that a PT test failure would be entitled to is resentment at their own lazy, inactive, pampered upbringing, which obviously failed to teach them 2 of the absolute BASIC exercises ie LIE ON FLOOR, PUSH YOURSELF UP ... and SIT ON FLOOR, SIT UPRIGHT. It's not like...
The issue is not with the RAF and how they have applied (or not) rules, it's actually more about how it's another example of an increasingly out-of-touch, dare I say, moronic, judiciary in the UK, who hand down judgements that defy common sense.
The only time I've seen a muslim encounter a negative reaction was when it was entirely his fault. Said individual lived quite a 'haram' lifestyle (booze, women, illicit drugs, chronic lateness, and I should think he was a bit behind on his zakat after all that), yet when the book was thrown at...
Nothing screams insecurity more than having a shiny badge attached to a piece of kit you'll likely never wear for real just so people don't forget how important you are.
Absolutely right Occam, my mistake.
The rest stands though. Criminal record? = pretty well down the list for 'people the CF would like to hire'.
Good luck.
Have you read any of the above? You will need a pardon as well as any other judicial restrictions being lifted, and even then you will find yourself with a considerable disadvantage compared to other recruits who carried themselves within the boundaries of the law.
