So... according to her, everyone who has ever been medically released has voluntarily put their own neck on the chopping block. What self serving crap.
People donate money because they want to help veterans. This fund helps veterans (I know because I am a vet that was helped), and you guys just crap all over it. Tell me, how do you spend your hard earned shekels if you want to help vets? I spend mine on the poppy fund and the Legion foundation...
I wouldn't be too quick to say this is an American tradition adopted by Canada's military. I know of a WWII Patricia that "coined" every Pat he ever came into contact with (including the regimental band). I don't know how far back this tradition goes.
I hope Pat Stogran will get any help he needs - which is not always the case. My heart goes out to all servicemembers and veterans suffering from these wounds (and they are wounds).
As an aside, does anyone else reading the anonymous Gnr's story in the "Battle Scars" series of articles think...
I can only echo what noneck has said. I found this program very helpful in getting my life together. It really is life changing. Veterans helping veterans.

I was under the impression that here in Canada, we have been using the term "Operational Stress Injury" for years. Is this not basically the same idea?
Took the pills on 02 tour, gave me vivid gory violent dreams. stopped taking it after I started hallucinating. Still have the dreams- couldn't say whether pills are partly to blame or not.
Been reading this thread and the one about use of the poppy symbol, and thought I would weigh in.
I have been a member of the Whitehorse Legion for 10 yrs now. My first yrs membership was paid for by my folks as a gift while I was still serving. I have been active in the branch since I moved...
