    Mamba's

One of the 3 we have on Op Athena was very recently purchased and was still made by Vickers OMC/Alvis of South Africa. I have not heard anything about GM producing them in future, although nothing surprises me.

    Mamba's

The Mamba (1) from Bosnia is now back in Canada, and is used as a Training Vehicle for units undergoing pre-deployment trg. It is no longer used operationally as it has been replaced by the Nyala of which we currently have 3 Forces wide. There is talk of buying a substancial quantity of these...

    SOG + Crimper

Well, I will leave you with this thought... it works as it was designed, an expedient Crimper. Unfortunately the geniuses at J3 put the run on it... go figure. There are many other things in our inventory that do a far worse job for things that they were designed for. I'm dying to know who...

Old LBV back in use in Afghanistan (now Arid CADPAT)?!

Just to clarify a few things WRT this... My Cadpat AR LBV has a Mfg Label indicating it was made in early 2002 (same as my Cadpat AR Wide Brimmed Combat Hat and some of my uniforms)... so I don't believe this has anything to do with the gripes/UCR's with the current TV as it was already made...

    Mineclearing

Mine dogs are being used extensively by OMAR, RONCO and other mine clearance firms with very good success. Unfortunately, we do not have the handling skills or time to make use of these dogs ourselves. Most of the dogs I have seen used within ISAF (including Cdn) are for explosive sniffing. I...

    Best And Worst Tour oversees

Well the Poker is up and running, but unfortunately we broke "Lazy E's" budget two games into the tour..... Sweet Lou is fleecing us all on a regular basis as usual. As for the original question: My TAV trip to KFOR '00 with Freaky Paul was by far the best.... My worst.... wait out :)

    Rick Mercer's Jan 10th Rant

I agree, 95% of the tasks we (Sappers) complete during Warfighting, we also complete during OOTW. Only the procedures, time appreciation and risks taken to complete the task change (hasty vs deliberate). Ironically, we do more Warfighting training as part of the predeployment training then we...

    Deploying the DART to Asia

Couldn't have said it better myself....
  19. armybuck041

Pers Tempo, military life expectations, and the DART deployment

Exactly.... short and sweet... All i'm trying to say is that the CF made policy about the rules and duration for sending pers on deployment. No sooner than it was in ink they had to come up with ways around it because the policy was almost impossible to fullfil. This is the issue i'm trying to...
