Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

Given the current pay scales as a start point, question for those that want an increase. What is an acceptable pay scale in your opinion? NCM and Officer. Current pay scale as per @childs56 Private 1 $3614- $5304 $21.34- $33.15hr Cpl $6069- $6493 $37.93- $40.58hr Cpl Spec $6731- $7142...

Canadian modular assault rifle project, a C7 replacement?

CAF 12 gauge 2 3/4 buckshot is usually always 00 buck with 8-9 pellets. #4 buck can go as high as 21 pellets but BB 3inch loads are typically between 50-72 pellets. Hence why aerial targets aren’t typically engaged with Buckshot, pattern density is much much better with pellet loads vs buckshot...

CAN Enhanced (Permanent?) Fwd Presence in Latvia

The NATO Combat Readiness Evaluation is a comprehensive look at between 600-700 different criteria/metrics. These points range across all aspects of a unit, some are very specific binary questions like “Does the unit have a vehicle mounted ATGM system” or “Does the Unit issue orders in English”...

CAN Enhanced (Permanent?) Fwd Presence in Latvia

Yes, validated on Cdn Level 6 BTS but not CREVAL. I am very very familiar with what was briefed during Ex OAK RESOLVE.

Canadian modular assault rifle project, a C7 replacement?

Skeet shooting or similar engagement of aerial targets is normally done with ammunition designed for engagement of aerial targets vs buck shot though. It would be interesting to see how many clays or UAS would be hit in the air by buckshot. I guess they are just making do with what they can get.

CAN Enhanced (Permanent?) Fwd Presence in Latvia

No, there was no CREVAL of anything other than the MNBG. The MN Arty Bn was validated on very limited non Arty Cdn Lvl 6 BTS.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

An interesting thought experiment. What would be the time delay, in such a pivot, to the overall recapitalization of the various fleets? A SWAG is minimum 3 year delay to all projected IOCs.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

If we think that we need to do this with the F35 are we doing this with the MQ-9B, the P-8, the River Class Aegis and weapons suite etc etc. If we aren’t looking at all the systems then this is not an actual serious military concern but rather a political chest piece that happens to have a...

CAN Enhanced (Permanent?) Fwd Presence in Latvia

Yes, Ex OAK RESOLVE achieved the MN BG Latvia both their CREVAL certification as well as a Cdn Level 6 validation.

CAN Enhanced (Permanent?) Fwd Presence in Latvia

One other consideration for these loitering munitions is that it’s either range or endurance over a target area not both. The 300 has a range of 10km OR an endurance of 15min. The 600 has a range or 40km or an endurance of 40min. A Bn might value a 600 being able to launch from 4km back of...

    Informing the Army’s Future Structure

Fair enough. However the record of the institution successfully managing change in the last 30 years is not super robust. Therefore a perspective of deeds not words is not invalid. The CAF and the CA need to demonstrate by robust concrete and decisive action with consistent and persistent...

    Informing the Army’s Future Structure

I don’t get a sense that the Canadian Army does much without at least a majority of Army Council agreeing. CCA is a key driver but if the other parties on the Army Council and others such as Corp Directors don’t cooperate it seems to fall apart.

    Informing the Army’s Future Structure

Agreed. I don’t get the sense that the working groups were thinking about the number of Res units. I’m getting the sense that it’s the too many people for what the reserves offer, hopefully I am wrong. It would be a terrible move by the CA to give up on reforming the reserves to be an...

    Informing the Army’s Future Structure

It will be interesting to see where this goes over the next few months. They have conducted a number of surveys, senior leader interviews and working groups. From that there seems to be consensus that the CA is badly broken and needs to be completely rebuilt. However there is also almost no...

Canadian modular assault rifle project, a C7 replacement?

Well that is standard. Not CMAR related but interesting. 1 RCR conducted a counter drone range using REM 870P cylinder bore shotguns with 00 buck. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1A3ypDvAsJ/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Canadian modular assault rifle project, a C7 replacement?

Based on a couple factors, main one being a desire to keep the entire program inside Canada and not need to involve OUTCAN firms like was tried with the Ranger rifle and the C6, I strongly suspect the grenade launcher will be the Colt Canada Eagle. It won’t be a standalone but attached to the...

    LPC leadership race - 2025

Until the LPC officially, publicly and demonstrably divorces itself from the Toronto and Montreal based gun control extremists and un does everything the Trudeau government has done on firearms I would not consider the LPC a viable option for my vote. Period. I reluctantly believe that most...

Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

That would be a disaster for the LPC. Citizens with guns and training would be an unmitigated disaster worse than being the 51st state for the Liberal mind.

    LPC leadership race - 2025

Except we don’t need a manager as the head of government. A head of government needs to be more a leader than a manger. https://www.rfc.ie/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/leader-V-manager.png

    LPC leadership race - 2025

The LPC needed a hard rebrand away from the left and a pivot towards more classical liberalism. Personal responsibility and personal freedom type stuff, things the LPC has not stood for in decades.
