CAN Enhanced (Permanent?) Fwd Presence in Latvia

He kind of did:

So did Musk.

The question that is an open one which I can't answer is whether the far-right AfD constitutes a "Nazi" movement. They are certainly embedded in the nationalist/anti-immigrant furor sweeping Europe and in that respect one has to ask the question at what point is the "Nazi" analogy appropriate.

It would seem their stance has softend since forming. They are anti immigration. A term used by the opposition when someone is against illegal immigration. Who here isn't against illegal immigration..

The ruling parties that oppose them are the ones that are sending SWAT teams to people's houses, breaking down doors and jailing people for internet comments.

You're gay. Jail.
You're đŸ’©. Jail
Comment on illegal immigrants. Jail

Perhaps it's the current government that should be labelled off side and not the party they are afraid of.

"Founded in 2013, AfD has been labelled as ‘far-right’ by mainstream parties and media—a common tactic in Europe and the United States to marginalize and discredit right-wing forces among voters. Although the party faced scandals in its early years, its moderate faction has since worked to distance itself from radical elements as AfD gained more popularity in federal politics. Despite these efforts, a long-standing agreement among establishment parties—the Social Democrats (SPD), the Liberals (FDP), the Greens, and the centre-right Christian Democrats (CDU/CSU)—to exclude AfD from governing coalitions remains in place. This so-called ‘firewall’ extends to the legislative process, with mainstream parties refusing to support or introduce legislation that could pass only with AfD’s backing. However, this might change after February."

Perhaps we'll see a change in the people's perspective on the 23rd.

This guy called a politician an idiot.

Siding against the west? They are the west.

He has spoken a number of times with Zelensky, now he speaks with the Russians.

You don't go into a negotiation or a mediation with everyone at the table. You just don't. You feel out both sides, see what they want, what they'll give up and what they won't accept. Once you have a basis and a general consensus, THEN you bring the two sides together so all they need to do is hammer out the finer points and sign the agreement. Mediation/ negotiation 101 for Dummies.

That's how these things work. Zelensky got his back up because he's a comedian that doesn't know how things work. He's never had to deal with a ceasefire or peace agreement. He's a pseudo dictator without a real government or diplomats to make him understand these things. He has to learn on the fly and he just had his first lesson.
The dealership and your bank met this morning.

You're buying a new car.

Hi guys, me again. Looks like the garbage can overflowed for a second time. I'm pretty sure everyone can keep Ukraine in the Ukraine area and whatever Trump segways in the Trump thread.

Switchblade 300 / 600 coming to the MN Bde

One other consideration for these loitering munitions is that it’s either range or endurance over a target area not both.
The 300 has a range of 10km OR an endurance of 15min.
The 600 has a range or 40km or an endurance of 40min.
A Bn might value a 600 being able to launch from 4km back of the FLOT, fly 6km forward of the FLOT after being launched on specific criteria from Bn NAIs, then spend 30 minutes over a specific TAI in order to confirm targets and strike.

Having just completed our Creval three months into deployment I think it’s pretty clear Latvia needs to be a longer deployment if it’s mean to be credible.

Was that 'Oak Resolve'?

From February 21 to 28, the NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia will hold military exercises uner the 'Oak Resolve' banner at the ĀdaĆŸi military training ground near RÄ«ga.

I don't know anything about this party, or the general political climate in Germany these days.

But a few things stood out in this...

- Being far-right and being labelled as far-right are not the same thing.

Is this party extreme right, as in "We're gonna roll right through France" kinda right?

Or is this party being labelled as far right because they aren't huge fans of their quality of life tangibly lowering due to massive numbers of mostly unvetted migrants?

- If this party is having more and more voters cast their votes for them, and the 'big mainstream parties' quietly conspire to keep them at a distance...eventually that's going to boil over...

If they were smart, they'd ask themselves why this party is growing in popularity & maybe start adopting some of those same ideas themselves

No, there was no CREVAL of anything other than the MNBG.
The MN Arty Bn was validated on very limited non Arty Cdn Lvl 6 BTS.

We can get into a he said she said, but I can assure you the MN ArtyBn HQ was validated on Oak Resolve, as I’m deployed within it and that’s what was briefed by CMTC.

Yes, validated on Cdn Level 6 BTS but not CREVAL. I am very very familiar with what was briefed during Ex OAK RESOLVE.

What’s the functional difference between Creval and Level 6 BTS?

The NATO Combat Readiness Evaluation is a comprehensive look at between 600-700 different criteria/metrics. These points range across all aspects of a unit, some are very specific binary questions like “Does the unit have a vehicle mounted ATGM system” or “Does the Unit issue orders in English”. Other questions are more subjective “ Does the Unit adhere to the principle of surprise when conducting offensive operations”

These questions are answered by a dedicated team of personnel of whom 50% must have the NATO CREVAL qualification. The team must be led by an officer of equivalent rank to the Unit being evaluated. Additionally the team is monitored by an assigned NATO CREVAL monitor who reports direct to NATO and is outside of the Unit CoC and also outside the Evaluation team CoC.

The final report is signed by the evaluation team leader and the NATO monitor and then distributed to NATO and the unit and formations.

Canadian validation is done against Cdn collective BTS. There are typically only maybe 10 points, half common ones such as “Conduct OPP” or “Conduct ISTAR Planning” and half more corps/branch specific ones such as “Conduct a Deliberate Obstacle Breech”.

Bottom line is that Cdn BTS is more focused on a subjective assessment of tactical tasks whereas the CREVAL is focused on a hard assessment ( obviously with some subjectively still) of a units overall readiness to be deployed as a NATO force across all aspects of the unit to include personal administration, equipment holdings, equipment capabilities, SOPs, SOIs, TTPs, actual procedures, processes etc.
