    Updated Army Service Dress project

A new Land 'CA' DEU is long overdue, however it would be interesting to know how many CA members actually wear theirs more than a handful of times per year. I'm guess'timating under 10%. ...and even then, how many folks who wear DEUs on a daily basis ever rock their service jacket 'tunic' in...

40th Anniversary of the Intelligence Branch

Also it's the 80th Anniversary of the Canadian Intelligence Corps (C Int C) and the 10th Anniversary of the Meteorological Technician occupation coming over to the INT Branch. But still, all those buttons and bow-ties couldn't compete with Queen's U homecoming!

Who gets to call themselves a ‘combat veteran’? - Task and Purpose

From what I've heard, SAR and NORAD bars for the SSM have been proposed, but rejected, in the past. Although these days it wouldn't surprise me if they became a reality (...as times are a changin). Also, some sort of DOMOPs recognition is probably going to happen eventually. As for the 'remote...

    C III R Medals

Have you communicated with your Chief Clerk to get an update? A few months ago we presented CDs and CD Clasps to members who qualified throughout mid-to-late 2021. For example, one of our unit's members qualified for the CD2 on 15 Dec 21, and they were presented the Clasp during our H&A ceremony...

    C III R Medals

Dang, that's a long time to wait. In the last few units I've belonged to, it's usually about 6 months from date of qualifying to presentation of CD or CD clasp. If anyone is waiting 'years', then someone in the chain is not doing their job.

    C III R Medals

I'm assuming that anyone who qualified for a particular honour (CD, OSM, GSM, etc) right up until the day the Queen passed away, that they would be issued the version bearing her effigy. Anyone qualifying after the date of her death will probably have to wait out for the new monarch's version...

    Queen's Platinum Jubilee

My understanding is that although these are provincial honours, they will likley be added to the Canadian Order of Precedence, similar to how the Alberta and Saskatchewan Centennial Medals were. That is, those CAF members that receive these provincial Queen's Platinum Jubilee Medals will be able...

    Changes to service medals announced

I tend to agree; specifically it seems like the context of "aircrew" non-permanence over GCS-qualifying territory being one of the complicating factors. Personally, three of my medals are related to service in SWA (GCS-SWA, GSM-EXP, SSM-EXP) with each one of my tours experiencing various...

    Changes to service medals announced

Did the existing GCS/GSM-SWA not cover the territory of the Op IMPACT AOR? Why award the "EXP" versions of medals when there already were medals in the system? Perhaps they felt the need to separate the recognition from the Afghanistan efforts? Originally the GCS-EXP was awarded to those...
