    Cancel IE25 Contract?

I'm 99.9% sure you can still release right up until the end of the day prior to your next contract coming into effect with no negative effects.

    Difference between Regiments

There is no such thing as a Combat Engineer Support Regiment....it's an Engineer Support Regiment. Basically put, the difference between a CER and ESR is that the CERs provide close support engineering to their respective brigade groups, whereas the ESR is supposed to provide general support...

    Mat Tech course dates?

If you have DWAN access, you can find course dates for CTC schools listed on the Army National Calendar. CFSEME belongs to CTC, so it should be there. Now whether you are loaded onto a particular serial, that is something that could be checked in MITE by your unit's MITE clerk.

    EX Cougar Salvo 2012

I'm fully on board with that  , but I would hazard to guess that one of the caveats to our soldiers training on a US establishment was adherence to their alcohol in the field rules (this is based purely on previous experience training on US bases; I was not part of this ex in any way...

And IIRC, their rules are no alcohol in the field....21 or not ;)

Redress of Grievance – Mega thread [MERGED]

While I cannot say I am familiar with how the PPCLI merit their troops for leadership courses, I did notice this. Your profile says you're 00010, which IIRC, is Inf. If the Inf works anything like the Cbt Engrs PER-wise, a Cpl getting a "ready" on a PER is not merit-list material, which could...

    PHOTOS: Canadian Engineers At NTC

???  Breaching is one of our close support tasks to allow friendly forces to move on the battlefield. They don't look overburdened to me. They actually look to be packed pretty lightly compared to what I have seen in the past  ;)

Which job does the most EOD work ?

In a nutshell, on deployed operations, Cbt Engrs do the bulk of CMD / IEDD (with some augmentation by Cl Dvrs and Avn / AWS Techs during Ops Athena and Archer); however domestically, CMD is pretty evenly split between the Ammo Techs, AVN / AWS Techs and Cl Divers. IEDD-wise, most domestic calls...

Exported Trg - Running CTC Crses at Bdes (From: Cutting the CF/DND HQ bloat)

In theory, I don't see why the Regts couldn't do it, but again, it all comes down to that CO's ability to support the trg. While I cannot speak for the other Regts, 2 CER does not and has not had a Ress Tp for a number of years now - it was turned into a diver and EOD-heavy Combat Support Tp...

Exported Trg - Running CTC Crses at Bdes (From: Cutting the CF/DND HQ bloat)

I was one of said instructors; the Regt ran two QL3s - one run by 4 Tp and the other by 5 Tp. Although in theory it seems like it's easy to do, the execution of it turned out to be really quite different. At the time, 24 Fd Sqn was running the QL3s and 23 was getting ready to deploy to Kosovo...

    EOD ?

By "superman course", I assume you're referring to doing all the mods of your PRes DP1 Cbt Engr course? From what I have gathered through some recent discussions in the EOD community, PRes members fall under the current version of DAOD 8000-1 (...

    All Things Combat Diver (merged)

To be a combat diver, you must be a Cbt Engr (or Engr Officer), meet the medical standard for military divers, meet the PT standard, be nominated by your CoC, and be a volunteer. While there are a lot of similarities between the commercial diving world and military diving, having civy certs will...

    Math for Combat Engineers (merged)

There is no "dems ticket". It is a core competency of our trade, and even in the Pioneer and Assault Trooper specialties, there is no "ticket". It is part of the qualification, which you either receive or don't. You don't get partial points  :stirpot: To the OP: High school math is all that is...

    EOD ?

Nope. The word on the street is in the near future. But before you get your hopes up, try taking it one step at a time and actually enlist and finish a DP1 course. I can guarantee that in itself will be challenging enough  >:D

    Combat Engineers

IEDD is a very demanding specialty that currently has somewhere in the vicinity of a 75 - 80% course failure rate. As it can be an extremely dangerous job that requires one to be on their toes continuously and have a certain aptitude, not everyone is selected to attempt the course, and even...
