Just don't forget that 1RCR has deployed over twice as often as 3RCR over the past 10 years. We've been pretty busy with, you know, the war and stuff. ;D
3RCR may have won in the fall '09, but 1RCR crushed the 3rd Bn in 2008.
In any case, what was embarrassing was those losers in Para Mike coming over to 1RCR to get LAV qualified so they could deploy for the first time since 2003. Sorry guys! The Airborne's loooooonng gone!!!
"Stand Up! Hook...
Possibly.
It could have been a charging handle impingement malfunction, where an empty case fails to extract properly and gets partially lodged in the carrier key channel, pinned between the bolt face and the inside of the charging handle.
A bolt override is when an empty casing fails to...
Fair.
I assumed you were talking about cleaning because you mentioned that the charging handle would do just as well. Clearing a bolt override malfunction requires both the charging handle to be pulled back and something to be inserted through the ejection port to push the bolt back from the...
To be fair,
The "awkward hook thing to pull the bolt carrier back" is not for pulling the bolt carrier out of the receiver for cleaning. It's for clearing bolt override malfunctions. I've never had one myself, but apparently you can clear use a mag or a regular multitool to clear those...
Please, go ahead and "what-if" my argument.
If there's some reason to carry a bayonet that outweighs all the points I've outlined above, I want to hear about it.
TV,
You corrected "allot" (i.e. to parcel out) to be "alot," which is not a word in the english language.
I think you're looking for "a lot." >:D
I obsessive compulsively cannot pass faults... ;D
This thread is killing me. :brickwall:
For the benefit of newcomers to the thread, I'll rehash some of my earlier arguments.
The low likelihood of needing a bayonet:
The better alternatives to the bayonet:
More on the ASP Baton vs the bayonet:
I'll also link in Michael O'Leary's...
Fun Fact:
All you need is a piece of double sided hook velcro to swap out the new ruck's issued belt with a Kifaru belt.
The stabilizing and load bearing straps on the kifaru belts integrate perfectly with the issued ruck. The only problem is that the kifaru belt has loop velcro where the...
I hear good things about Mystery Ranch, and I'm very happy with my Kifaru Marauder (although that pack would be small for your purposes).
Another pack I would look into is Kifaru's Armor Grip 1.

I have this mental image of some staff weenie in NDHQ, sitting in his office and reading this forum, saying to himself:
:blotto:
Small correction, MSG was Battle Position 301.
And yes, there are a significant number of 3-06 C-Coy vets back at MSG. Charles Company does NOT fu*k around.
The only thing worse than being in Afghanistan right now is being stuck back in Canada...
Forget carrying around rubbing alcohol, hairspray, dry erase markers, brasso, and nail polish remover. An army in the field already provides copious amounts of the following three Staedtler removers:
1) Naptha
2) Hand Sanitizer (contains alcohol)
3) Cigarette Ash (doesn't need to be wet)
Doesn't a dump pouch sitting right on your centerline interfere with going prone? Having it there might be fine for a flat range doing gunfighter drills, but personally I'd place that pouch on the empty space on your weak side.
I'm not a doctor, but I don't think you'll gain anything by sleeping less prior to BMQ. As far as I know, the only real way to mitigate the effects of a lack of sleep during training is to be in top physical condition. If you have extra time on your hands, my advice would be to exercise hard...
If I may...
What the CF "needs" is always open to debate. But...
Kratos' advice is right in line with what I know about fitness. It seems like stymiest, coming off his Phase 3, agrees with him (more or less) as well. This is not old school run/ruck/run/ruck PT. This is not bodybuilding...
Simply, these are the fewest movements that affect the widest range of muscle groups. Unlike bodyweight exercises, which build endurance, lifting heavy in these three exercises will increase strength and power, and they are better at strengthening ligaments and increasing bone density. They...
