You seem to have memory lapse.
Have you forgotten 12 new subs and a range between 8-12 new light frigates?
In addition, to compare our Halifax’s in ability to the Rivers is like a Ford Pinto to a Lexus.
15 Rivers
12 Subs
12 Light Frigates
6 AOPS
That’s a pretty substantial blue water navy there.
I wigged people have a look at the proposed RCN fleet size and then compare that against the 88 F35’s that were proposed over 5yrs ago and ask yourself the question - if the RCN will be expanding to this size in 15ish years, isn’t logical that the size/capabilities of the RCAF will follow suit?
If we start adding another 1-2 LNG facilities and a crude oil facility up on the north BC coast, I would think that logically based RCN assets (not Orca’s) in the vicinity would be a prudent thing to do.
I mean it’s why Cold Lake and Baggotville are where they are.
I just spent some time looking at a map. Of those 3 Sydney looks to be the most developed and a place to raise a family.
Stationing some of the possible new Orca replacements as well might make some sense.
I would think that where ever the subs are stationed the Sub recovery ships would be...
Which of those 3 places would be the most acceptable to a family living in the area, accessible to modern amenities?
I know nothing of those areas except from what I can see on a map.
If the RCAF has trouble staffing Cold Lake I would imagine the RCN will be challenged staffing Goose Bay.
St John’s would be more acceptable I would imagine.
That’s an easy answer.
We have a path forward to replace the CF18s in a timely manner and that will start in the next 3-4yrs in terms timeline.
What’s the status of the Halifax’s and Victoria’s?
The Vic will be toast in 10yrs and the Halifax’s maybe 15 is God smiles upon us.
Building the subs...
They won’t give them that and neither we the US.
The Ukkies want Tomahawks so they can hit deeply and precisely Russian oil facilities. Do the Euros have something similar to provide the Ukkies in large enough numbers.
Wasn’t this the case when the decision to start ramping up production on the AOPS was made?
We went around the world finding the right people.
We trained the people we had.
We ‘dumbed down’ the initial process and ramp up.
We stretched out the timelines.
And we built the first AOPS.
Anyone in...
Yes but we knew about the infrastructure renewal 10yrs ago.
No political party in this country in the last 35yrs has given a shit about the CAF.
Some lip service and pat on the head occasionally, that’s it.
Now we have a party that is saying mostly the right things, obtaining funding, moving...
