VAC Return to Lifetime Pensions Discussion

There was also no mention of a second lump sum option. I feel like this is kind of like Publishers Clearing House...10 million dollars could be yours! You might already be a winner!

VAC Return to Lifetime Pensions Discussion

I got a range with a difference of $24.99 between the high and low end...as well as several statements to the effect that I might not be eligible, I won't know until April 1 2019; the monthly option, should I be eligible, might be different come April 1, and if I am eligible I will receive...

Green passport and RCN travel. [Merged]

Nor have I and the OR at my regiment managed to lose one of my documents within 20 minutes of me giving it to them!

Police in Canada can now demand breath samples in bars, at home - Global News

Likely this came about due in part to the Monty Robinson case; Robinson, an off-duty RCMP officer, hit and killed a motorcyclist while driving. He left the scene (ostensibly to protect his children from viewing the accident) but gave his license to a witness (to defeat a charge of leaving the...

Green passport and RCN travel. [Merged]

Actually, if I remember correctly (it has been almost ten years), when we left Canada our passports of both colours merely accompanied us on the flight (they were divided by chalk and the rearranged in theatre to be divided by leave block). As we weren't leaving the airports in any of the places...

Green passport and RCN travel. [Merged]

I deployed "with" both but was only ever given access to my blue one for HLTA purposes. While in theatre, both were held on to by the OR/PSP staff (if I remember correctly). To and from theatre we flew on government aircraft.

    Combat Boots policy 2018-CANFORGEN 127/18

The soles apparently do not meet the spec...I believe someone else had posted about this earlier in the thread. The info came direct from Rocky.

While the Rocky's may not meet spec, it seems that certain styles of Dr. Martens might....the rubber soles are oil and slip resistant.

    CANFORGEN 168/18 (aka PATCHFORGEN) [Merged]

We recently received our manufactured DIV patches for combats. They are NOT simply the DEU div patches backed with Velcro. No, we had to go all-out for these ones...they are the dimensions of the large Canadian flag patch, but the div colour is smaller and bordered on all four sides by CADPAT...

    Ortona was it worth it?

I can't even with this article... "Some 141 miles due west of Rome is the small city of Ortona." "In the history books and documentaries about the Italian Campaign of WWII, the drive up Italy’s western coast gets overlooked..."

What's it like to drive a LAV?

I liken it to driving a big station wagon. It's actually a smooth ride and it has a lot of power behind it. I wouldn't say it is like a big rig, though I've never driven one of those. There's no trailer. Just a big, 8-wheeled station wagon. Mind the size, careful around the corners but you can...

    What happened to Recruiting Standards?

It's like this during BMQ as well...instructors have to do everything possible to NOT fail a candidate. The last one I staffed we definitely had a number of candidates that became emotional (and I'm not just referring to crying) at simple things, or being called out for something. Lots of extra...

VAC Return to Lifetime Pensions Discussion

Maybe I missed it somewhere, but where does it outline the criteria used to determine if you are eligible for a monthly amount if you've already received a disability award. Is it based on the percent you were awarded (as they use two people at 20% as an example) or is it based on type of injury...

    Combat Boots policy 2018-CANFORGEN 127/18

That's funny, because I have a PowerPoint dated 1 Dec 2017 from 1 CMBG and the second slide states "The first 5 slides are the boots that rated highest across the Bde, the other recommendations made the list, but, didn’t score high enough to make the list that was submitted to Div.  All boots on...

    New Army Dress regulations unveiled

Why not? The Spetsnaz famously wore knock-off Adidas (Mockba) and Chinese tennis shows in Afghanistan. They actually used Mockba right up until they stopped making them in 2011 and they switched to something a little more military.

    New Army Dress regulations unveiled

Maybe they should upgrade the ICE and wet weather jackets first so that we can utilize one rank identifier, not two. Then we could eliminate troops wandering around with no rank on their outerwear because the RQ is short of the old slip-on style but has plenty of Velcro ones...

    CAF Beard policy-CANFORGEN 158/18

Well, a few of us showed up for training on Wednesday with a week-ish worth of growth to no backlash. In fact, most of the senior NCOs were more than happy to tell us what needs to be done to keep our fledgling beards within the regulations.

    CAF Beard policy-CANFORGEN 158/18

Ah, it is what it is. Some people won't trust social medial regardless of if it's an official account. I have seen official CF accounts be hacked before, so it's not like Kratz is completely unjustified. -300 might be a little extreme, especially given the CANFORGEN came out not long after I...
