I flew to London with a bad head cold and took some medication prior to boarding. I missed the entire flight, and I was only awake for the landing because my wife woke me up.
Flying from Vancouver to Winnipeg for a brigade ex, I was asleep before the pre-flight announcements were done and I...
Even better, they stood us down three weeks early to accommodate a locally run DP1 Infantry. Like they can't find something for the candidates to do for three hours on a Wednesday night. So our next ex will be the range in Sept/Oct. and that always gets a good turn out. Oh, and for some reason...
Yes, that's what it was. We ended up getting ours signed off by a random RCMP officer at the airport who seemed to have trouble accepting our story at first...obviously his first time signing one.
I witnessed this last month when we had a total of two sections worth of people deploy on ex and about 1/3 of these were dedicated to pre-PLQ training. We had one MCpl, a few Cpls of varied seniority (again, most of which were dedicated to pre-PLQ) and a lot of recently trained privates. The...
I don't recall ever being given a leave pass for any leave period, but I do remember on my first leave during pre-deployment being given a form that we had to have signed off by someone (such as a municipal police officer or RCMP) to prove we had gone home. It was the only time I'd had that happen.
I'm by no means even a beginner at anything Navy, but the clearance divers have been going around reserve units in a recruiting drive. So they are looking to expand their pool. Perhaps they know something we don't? Or perhaps they anticipate losing people to a new task.
During which time we still get paid monthly thus shrinking any lump sum they'd offer people. But still...it might be preferable to receiving the equivalent of your Netflix bill each month.
Maybe it's a bit of both? There's always two sides to a story and the side we heard were of the "what an ass" side, but who knows the history of the individual? Was this their first tour, or second or third? Were they about to rotate out or had they just got there? Was it just someone having a...
And in all seriousness there was an individual who had an office job at KAF that had to be pulled aside by the MPs after throwing what can only be described as a temper tantrum at having to wait an additional 15 minutes after the all-sounded to get his Tim Horton's coffee he had paid for prior...
At one point we were told to keep the card in our wallets in case we ever need it when we our out and about, not in uniform and have to perform first aid. But then, we're also supposed to take the little two-way valve mask and gloves in the fashionable SJA pouch with us as well.
I just renewed mine in October and I don't recall going over a military specific portion (yes, it is in the book). Our two days were just focused on basic first aid and CPR.
And I still don't have my certificate...
I got in to the site this morning, and saw an amount under current benefits and payment history. No letter or anything in my inbox. After an hour of trying, I'm back into the site, still no letter, the amount has been removed completely and I get this message: We're updating the current benefits...
We've actually had about 5 reg force members posted to us as part of us being tasked as pioneer. They acted as course staff and are part of fledgling pioneer platoon. And there is the expectation that we can provide a section plus for reg force exercises.
We had about twenty or so guys trained up by the Engineers last summer and we just wrapped up our first in-house course. Lots of new toys to play with...
