"So You Want To Be A Pilot" Merged Thread 2002 - 2018

FSGT Lampkin, I was in the same situation as you last year. I applied for a Pilot position, however I got into RMC and got a position as a MARE (which wasn't even one of my choices!!). Nevertheless, I rejected the offer, went to Civi U this year, reapplied, passed ACS and got an offer for a...

    C/CWO Bloggins, LSM, ACSM

Hutch, I think you missed the whole point all of these guys are trying to make. Cadets don't need post-nominals!!!!! In the post above, all you did was correct useless facts that barely have anything to do with the point the guys were trying to make. You never answered the question: Why do you...

    C/CWO Bloggins, LSM, ACSM

Why would you want to have the abbreviations after your name? Are you that insecure about yourself that you need to take advantage of every opportunity that would "show-off" what you have achieved throughout your cadet career? Yes you're proud of your achievements, but cadets isn't about medals...

    Pilot Selection

So you got an offer for ROTP Pilot last year, and simply because the medical took a while to get back they took the offer away? Sounds fishy to me, but who am I to judge. 1) Maybe volunteer at a local cadet unit, coach a sports team, volunteer at a community centre, etc. 2) I doubt that your...

    SELECTION FOR FY 05/06

Yeah I fully agree. Kincanucks has been very helpful to everyone who is going through the recruiting process. And although at times his responses have a hint of sarcasm in them, he always gives the right information to the people that request it.

If you're serious with your question, then the answer is, it wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for your responses guys. Always glad to learn and understand something better.  :salute:

Why do CF Pilots need a degree?

Thanks for the lesson in morals. Yes, I joined to become a leader and pilot, but since I'm brand new to the CF and since the initial question wasn't answered, could you explain to me why someone needs to have a degree to be a leader?

Why do CF Pilots need a degree?

As I'm sitting here studying for my Financial Accounting exam, I begin to wonder, why do CF Pilots or any other CF officers need degrees? How would my degree in Commerce and Finance or someone else's degree in History, Philosophy or Math help them in their respective jobs (excluding engineers)...

    Orthotics in Combats?

I've been using orthotics for the past 2 years now. However, I've recently been enrolled (March 31st) and I'm off to IAP this summer and I was wondering if there was a way to get a pair of new orthotics through the CF. The ones I have now are pretty worn out and I think that a new pair would...

    Delaying enlistment

If it's your parents' wishes for you to go to college even though you want to join the CF it seems as if they're making the decisions for you. Aren't you an adult who can think for himself?

    Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP)-RMC 2000 - 2018 [Merged]

I believe that they only use your core subject marks to calculate your Academic Potential score which is one of the main scores RMC uses to make its decision. However, if you are evenly matched with another candidate (i.e. same AP and MP scores) they'd also consider your other marks. Kincanucks...

    More good news!

I'm pretty sure that the way the guy does the push ups in your link is not according to the CF Fitness Test standard. When he is down, his elbows are out; however on the PT Test your elbows will have to be really close to your body.

    Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP)-RMC 2000 - 2018 [Merged]

They look at your core subjects from Grades 10-12 to calculate your Academic Potential. Core subjects include: English, most of the maths and sciences (physics, bio and chem).

Enhanced Reliability Check (ERC) - Merged

I have to fill out a Security Clearance Form (TBS/SCT 330-60E; Rev. 2002/07). I have the paper version of it, however I am wondering if there is also a PDF version of the form (and yes I did a search). Thanks in advance.

question concerning recruitment and failing a course

Give the guy a break, he needed some answers to his questions that were legitimate and to the point. It's fine that you think that his questions are "as dull as a sack of hammers" but you're not exactly helping him by giving your smart a*s opinion.

    More good news!

Guys don't tell me I'm condescending or tell me that I'm not being nice if I ask this question. Army_paralegal why do you need to open a new thread every time you do one extra push up? I'm just really curious, thanks in advance.

WHY IS IT THAT WE HAVE TO SPEAK ENGLISH?

But when you say that the Russians/Soviets were the bad guys, then in turn you are also saying that your Ukrainian ancestors were also the bad guys, correct? It is obvious that a lot of people were in fact responsible for all of the murders, but to accuse the population of 150 million people as...
