    Weapon Techs?

Hi gang, I can tell you that as a wpns tech or Fcs for that matter, you will be where your troops are. For example, when I was with the Hussars in Germany, we were attached to the tank squadrons, and we followed close behind the Tanks in our APC's. Two wpns techs in one carrier, two FCS in...

    WEAPONS TECHNICIAN - LAND

Greetings, Yup Jack of all trades we were/are. I remember in Germany, (Bergen-Hohne I think) we were given these stinky old barracks to live in for two weeks and they had these old oil heaters in them...naturally none worked. I found an oil supply, and quickly set out to repair said burner. Had...

    Memories of Germany

Ok no takers so far eh? maybe I'll share another story then...On exercise, somewhere near Grafenwhor. We stopped in the middle of the night on a Country road..Sgt Major tells us to put a guard out and get some downtime...I try to sleep but getting that feeling that I may have to go for a walk...

    Memories of Germany

I've noticed quite a few folks here have spent time in Germany at some point in their careers. I have to say, it is sad that we no longer serve there. Getting posted there was the highlight of my time in the forces, and I have so many stories and memories from that place. It would be nice to be...

    German Stealth Suit?

Looks like a gore-tex rain jacket..I was under the impression a stealth suit was something our snipers use, correct me if I'm wrong.

So....Where are the US military deserters?

Is there still such a beast as "conscientuous objector status" (sp) ? in the U.S? I don't think it is wise to for Canada to get involved with deserters...we have enough problems of our own.

The Canadian Airborne Regiment, 1968-1995 (merged)

IMHO the answer is a resounding YES, but our Government can do no wrong and therefore they will never admit ever to making a mistake..look at the Gun registry fiasco.

Why Not Canadian Amphib/Marine Capability? (merged)

We cannot afford Marines, we can barely keep our small force equiped properly. I did hear that the military will get more money next budget, I think it comes out April 1st... :D

Wow, I sure would like to go back and visit. My daughter was born in the Lahr hospital and we are going to go there on her sixteenth birhtday, which is two years away. She has heard so many stories and is looking forward to going. In addition, I also wanted to walk in the Nymegen march in...

    Thanks Canadian EME

"Solving problems" to equipment that went tits up reminds me of an experience from Germany. It was a rare cold day on exercise somewhere in the East part of former West-Germany. (near the Chech border) We shared a rest point or leager (sp) with an American Recce element using APC's. Problem was...

Canadian Military involvment in Iraq, and Canadian political support. - The Canadian Forces going to Iraq?

Greetings, After reading all these replies one at a time I can only say.....phew hot topic! A lot of detailed analysis and opinions on this subject. I guess it comes down to this; The politicians will decide right or wrong whether to send troops. If ordered to go, we will send our best, and as...

Conflict in Darfur, Sudan - The Mega Thread

Earlier someone mentioned that these people cannot police themselves and need help etc. How about they start by small groups of farmers who set up some homemade ambush and grab a small group of rebels, take their equipment, use that equipment against them, recruit more farmers once they have...

    Do Canadians even care anymore?

Funny, but I was posted in downtown Ottawa for a spell, and in NDHQ there is definitely no fitness standards, at least there did not seem to be...lots of chubby old soldiers/sailors/airman walking around there...no disrespect intended.

Any of you spend any time in Meaford..after I got out, I worked as a civilian gunplummer for CBO. (Canadian Base Operators) and worked on everything from small arms to Coyote, Howitzers and hydraulic lifts, stoves, lanterns (yuck) bicycles and even weight equipment at the gym. To be an effective...
