Actually, yes and no. When we took crap at the beginning from Div for issuing "Air Force CADPAT" to soldiers who really needed it (Infanteers, Engineers, Mechanics...) a bad cas of "tentitives" ensued. For almost a year (the Army bought the first CADPAT system) we gave it only to the Air Force...

MJP is correct - if you are reg you do not need to bring in the old t-shirts. I can see in the system right down to the second when you were last issued your shirts. There is one of two reasons this thought to be the case: 1. You were either misinformed or you misunderstood. Our policy here...

As much as I really liked medicinman's answer (it WAS pretty good) here are the ACTUAL reasons: Our policy and directive dictate that we cannot take ANYTHING over the counter that has not been cleaned. If you take your shirt off your back, your boots off your feet or your pants off your ass we...

The Land Operations Temperate Boots (LOTB)

Do away completely with the standard issue boot and have a Compliant Boot List. Period. This is the only thing that will make everyone happy - or at the very least absolve the CF of any malfeasance... until someone finds a boot NOT on the Compliant Boot List, and then it's this all over again...

No, we don't close here in Gagetown. However, our hours are 0730 - 1330 Mon - Fri. This being said, many Clothing Stores DO close at least once a week for the exact reasons PMedMoe stated. Why the flying f*** is it so unbelievable that our trade is understaffed, over worked and need a day to...

Ahh yes - the ole "coming into force" date! Thanks Occam!

Pension Act vs NVA Lifetime Comparison

I read somewhere last week (and for the life of me I can't find it again) that the retroactive lump sum payments have to be made up PRIOR to 1 Apr 2017. I'm sure I read that. Did anyone else see that? I am aware that the bump to $360,000 doesn't take effect until FY 17 (i'll probably be dead...

    CAF Combat boots policy 2005-2018

The biggest problem we are having with the LOTB is that that are both way shorter that what we are used to. Most think the zipper will crap out... but 99% of what we got back was the stitching on the side of the toe box lets go. Apart from the stupid white line on the sole of the zippered boot...

The Land Operations Temperate Boots (LOTB)

I'm not insinuating anything. I said "many" not "most". You agree that there are people gaming the system and I agree that there are those with legitimate feet issues. I am not trying to be offensive and why would you say "dangerous"? Odd word to use here... Just putting my thoughts as I see...

    CAF Combat boots policy 2005-2018

We have stopped doing that (for the most part) - maybe one in 30 people now get approved for LPO boots. Ottawa says we will fit everyone (they figure 98%) in one of the combined 140 sizes we have in the new LOTB.

The Land Operations Temperate Boots (LOTB)

See, 60,000 soldiers (that's 120,000 feet!) will have roughly 20,000 differences of opinion (that's 1 in 3 where the boots legitimately don't fit right or are not comfortable). It is impossible to make everyone happy and while I really do think this boot fiasco is just that, I also see that...

A Failing of CAF Family Support

Firstly, I think you went into it with a closed mind (...I knew it's just another empty promisses,...) and secondly, how are you so sure the Padre never did anything? Maybe 32 dropped the ball? Maybe 32 tried and your wife never responded? Maybe it wasn't so high on the priority list? If the CAF...

    Supply Tech - merged

So let's start by saying that by using the search function, you can find out a ton about the Supply trade. I have many posts about Supply and postings and such. Have a read. Supply is what we call "purple" in that it's not green (land) blue (air) or navy (sea) specific... let me qualify that by...

The Land Operations Temperate Boots (LOTB)

A very accurate statement. Add the rumour mill, outside-the-box policies and personal preference and you have ... well, this. I know that unit RSMs will allow troops to wear personally bought footwear. I know that certain units even stock them in their kit shop. I know that there are many...

The Land Operations Temperate Boots (LOTB)

No no no... I completely understand about the clarity of what was said, and that the CWO was NOT mistaken... misinformed is a better way to put it. What I'm saying is that yes, it may be true, but I have read everything on CTS and I can't find anything on another implementation. They reference a...

The Land Operations Temperate Boots (LOTB)

I was there. I honestly think that was misspoken. These two boots were researched, trialed and manufactured over a 5 year period. Millions have gone into it. Only to be an intrem boot so we can go back to a boot we already have? Sounds wrong somehow... Very true!
