The Land Operations Temperate Boots (LOTB)

It's difficult. I agree that this "boot" thing needs to come to a head - I have seen more boot styles throughout my career than you can shake a stick at. But it does say something to me - DND has not stopped trying. While seemingly fail after fail has produced nothing but basements and kit rooms...

The Land Operations Temperate Boots (LOTB)

What did you mean by this? I have always been a firm believer in a COA that mirriored the BTW allowance. But a few weeks ago, I was voicing this opinion (to a possibly smarter, albiet not quite as good looking Logistician) when I was given pause for thought. Major: How many years you got in...

    PERs : All issues questions...2003-2019

I print out the dots at work and write the narritive at home in an email. Hit that little airplane up in the corner and it waiting for my the next morning! I redact as I go (MCpl Xxxxxxx) and I do this with the right amount of letters. Not so necessary now, but when we were filling the whole...

The Land Operations Temperate Boots (LOTB)

In no way, shape or form am I "blaming" troops for anything. And I never said that everyone want the newest and shiniest. But it is problematic behaviour in our line of work. My whole point is please don't blame the Supply Tech - we are not out to screw over everyone that come in to the front...

Mess Dress as a New Recruit?

Actually, very little is DEU. If the member f****ed off on us with one year plus a day, they do not have to return their DEU items. Which now becomes even MORE work for me, as I now have to remove all DEU line items off the derelict's IA.

Back with the PMQ Questions !

Correct me if i'm wrong, but you haven't even applied yet? I read that you released from the Res in order to go Reg...?

Mess Dress as a New Recruit?

I completely understand the concept behind this George - how many "kit recovery" memos to the AJAG have I had to do in my career because a guy joined the PRes, got thousands of dollars of kit, then bailed, never to be heard from again! However, it's our policy (Land, Air or Sea) that all PRes...

Mess Dress as a New Recruit?

Were you not sized for your DEU? Those young soldiers / sailors who do not have "Mess Kit" (which BTW as Pusser put it, not required) wear their DEU with a tux shirt and black bow tie - no beret...

Back with the PMQ Questions !

Correct Paleo - more to the point, the only time the prime contractor (Brookfield) will engage is on posting authority... a posting message. In order to receive a posting message, one must be trade qualified (QL3). They will authorize TB spending in some unique cases when an individual leaves...

The Land Operations Temperate Boots (LOTB)

Yea - this happened mid-phase 2 after we had sized / ordered / issued to at least 25% of the base. Now we have half a dozen units complaining that their neighbor has the new boots but not them. Their buddy down the road has the new boots, but not them. Their grandmother has the new boots but not...

    PERs : All issues questions...2003-2019

I opted out 2 years ago. A 3B release was inevitable and therefore promotion was impossible. You still receive PDRs and a PERX, but as stated prior, a little more "room" was made for those behind me on the merit list. It doesn't have to be a permanent thing - yes, opting back in is possible if...

    Vac claim. Questions

Not sure if it would be considered a separate claim, however if the tear is related to your previous diagnosis (key is "related to") then at the very least you can ask that they revisit your original application for a reassessment. Nothing ventured, nothing gained right?

    My VAC experience begins

Thank you very much for that. Hearing from someone else in a similar situation helps - even if the outcomes are different, it's good to know i'm not alone!

    Retraining the Experienced and Ineffective

Many years ago, I thought my son was an idiot. No, really - it was easier to believe that than think I was inneffectual as a parent. I once handed him a grocery bag with meat for the freezer. A 30 second task, at best. A week later, we couldn't figure out where the funky smell was coming from...

    Short Days

I think closer to the point is, as DAA said - reckoning time for short is 2 days per month (which can be taken in half day increments) in ONE calender month. Sometimes a leave pass will span 2 calendar months. I have done many leave passes in MM with 4 short days taken between July and August...

Primary Leadership Qualification Course (PLQ) Mega thread

Yes. An amazing point. I honestly don't understand why this hasn't been fixed already. Since January alone, I personally (not second hand - personally) know of 5 people who were promoted a few years ago and now have to relinquish their leaf. What a waste - not their fault, but time and resources.

Primary Leadership Qualification Course (PLQ) Mega thread

And for me, therein lies the issue - Halifax touched on it. The "hard" trades. You have one RCR, one Stoker, one AVS Tech... right. Arrowhead to figs 123456. Reconstitute on 4. I am a purple trade. That means I can end up as combat service support (I just came from 4 ESR) where I taught orders...

    OD fleece toque

Uh huh. This particular CANAIRGEN was visited and revisited. The problem was (stress "was") that ADM(MAT) policy on stock-out VS consumption kinda overruled the CANAIRGEN. See, even though the order did in fact stipulate that said toque was only to be worn in 1 or 3, it was still, at the end of...

REG VS RES NCM INF PAY

And yes - many of the cool kids weren't just Army. I know many airmen/women and sailors who I would float down a river for... but watch out for them sailor-types... odd bunch them guys!
