Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery School - Assigned Batteries

Okay, let me see if I get the terms right: STA - Surveillance and Target Acquisition (ground radars and UAVs) OP - Observation Post (the forward observers) IG - Instructor of Gunnery AIG - Assistant Instructor of Gunnery

Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery School - Assigned Batteries

Hi, just a curious question here. What exactly are the tasks and duties of the three batteries currently assigned to the RCAS in Gagetown ("W" Bty, 45 Bty and 65 Bty)? I know the two numbered batteries are marked as "depot" batteries, but nothing I've read describes anything beyond that.

    Dark Blue Berets return

Yeah, it's the way the person who made it for my little lady there makes them.  Still, it's easy to imagine it being like the standard berets we wear/once wore, eh?

    Dark Blue Berets return

If people are proposing new beret colours for the Army, here's an idea for airmobile infantry/cavalry.  It's noticeably different from the airborne maroon and special forces tan, but unique. (And I apologize.  I took the picture from my iPhone, but it won't make it stand up)

    FWSAR (CC130H, Buffalo, C27J, V22): Status & Possibilities

Oh, yeah.  That would be perfect.  It's in Inuktitut, thus gets around the English/French language requirement.

    FWSAR (CC130H, Buffalo, C27J, V22): Status & Possibilities

Most likely, it'll be CC-195 since there are still loads of 100-series type numbers available to be used.  As for name, I haven't seen anything.

Wedgetail to be RAF's new AEW&C aircraft

Truthfully, it would be nice to have an AEW&C platform of our own.  We could order the E-7 and use that to help in keeping the North free of Russian intrusion as well as help NATO and our allies elsewhere.

Does anyone have pictures of people wearing the new berets?

Dutch ships and designs and the possibilities for Canada

What about ships like the SIGMA 9113-class corvettes?  Would be perfect to replace the Kingston-class ships, I believe.

    Dark Blue Berets return

I wonder if the RCA, RCEME, RCSigs and CIntC are getting their new berets from the same stock as where Robert Land Academy in Wellandport ON get their berets; blue has been the colour for all cadets after passing Recruit Period since I attended the school from 1980-84.

RPAS (was JUSTAS): the project to buy armed Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAVs

Agreed.  If the RCAF wants a single airframe that can do both reconnaissance and attack missions, they should go for the MQ-9 Reaper.  The Americans use it in border security and it's already perked some interest with the RCAF; it actually has the proposed designation of CU-163.

    RCAF aircrew shortage

A quick question:  What is the reason for the fact that pilots have to be officers?  There have been times in the past when NCMs have been allowed to get their wings and fly.  And given the current pilot shortage, wouldn't this serve as a way to maintain and enhance current operational...

Save Money and Get a Big Ship

Since we're now talking about the amphibious carriers that the Australians have, how about getting an Izumo-class DDH/CVH or two to act as flagships of both fleets?  Crew manning for the ship itself is about the same as any Iroquois-class DDH and if we get them with the modifications to fly...

Ah, yes, the REMFs need to have even MORE influence on normal soldiers' lives.  Forgot all about that...!

    New Army Dress regulations unveiled

Imagine what the cost would be if they elected to get LOW-VISIBILITY brigade patches for CADPAT like the Americans do it. How much would THAT cost?
