    Canada's tanks

If we can get Abrams in large numbers, and there's political willpower to do so, that's just as good.

The Great Gun Control Debate- 2.0

I used to be a lot more active there, but I've stepped back in recent years, mostly perusing the news and images sections. I swear, it seems every thread about Ukraine brings the tankies out of the woodwork.

    Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

I wonder if it would be possible to convince BAE Systems to open a factory in Canada and put the Challenger 3 into production, rather than just being an upgrade program for existing hulls. It uses the same hulls as the Challenger 2, and they own all the blueprints and necessary rights to that...

    Canada's tanks

I wonder which would be more feasible, convincing Rheinmetall to open a factory in Canada, or BAE to open a factory and build new Challenger 3s (the Challenger 3 is an extensive upgrade of existing Challenger 2 hulls rather than a new production).

Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

I really hope the CV9035 is picked. Although, are the CV90105 and CV90120 in service? I thought those were prototyped but not actually adopted.

Yes, and the MLVW was a 2½ ton while the MSVS is a 5+ ton and physically larger. My point is we need a varied fleet of ~2½, 5 and 10+ ton trucks, and an all-Zetros fleet would be great. Plus a more appropriate replacement for the LSVW, like the Unimog.

There's one near Camp Labrie. All night it looks like the sun is setting, in the wrong direction.

I think only the 8x8 Heavy model is getting that, but I could be wrong and they might both have that. Light: Heavy: Even at 2½ tons, it's big.

Corvette uses a similar, also stupid electric door latch that has caused at least one death when the driver was trapped for several days after the battery failed and he was unable to open the door or access the emergency release. I still don't get why they moved away from this:

At least 2½ tons. That's the lowest Mercedes offers the Zetros. It's considerably larger than the LSVW. They also have a 6x6 version that is perfect for the MSVS role. And obviously we need more than 1,500. Maybe add a zero to the end.

The LVM picks are good for MLVW and HLVW replacements, but we'll still need an MSVS replacement in the 5 to 8 ton range. The Unimog would be great to replace the LSVW.

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

How about the Bofors 40 Mk4? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bofors_40_Mk4 Or there's the DARDO mounting of the Bofors 40mm L/70. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DARDO

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

There's apparently a version of the 76 that doesn't require deck penetration, intended for mounting on aircraft hangars. Maybe that would be useful on the AOPS.
