Stoker is correct, “we won’t be surfacing through ice pack.”
Before taking such a risk to the crew and boat; it would be prudent for the manufacturer to create a computer model of ice conditions and observe how the submarine model and ice model react to the other.
Too slow, Topshee is looking for mid twenty knots. He wants a Halifax in a smaller package. Listen to Topshee’s interview with Noah:

GR66, thanks for the posting.
“and the Protecteur-class would sustain both.”
Topshee has mentioned that the Corvettes will need to be rated PC6 minus. If so, won’t future AORs need to be similarly rated to provide support to warships operating in the Arctic.
Exactly. If, negotiations were to resume, it will be one sided in favour of our submission to their demands. Trump has been clear that the US has all “the cards”.
Operating under the ice needs to be defined. I suspect it means travelling a short distance under the ice edge. Our subs will not be transiting under the ice.
The power plant doesn’t determine if you can punch thru the ice. The amount of reserve buoyancy is what determines if it can push up...
F35 requires an environmentally controlled hanger and specialty tooling/techniques to maintain the stealth surfaces. Someone previously commented on this blog that our hangers won’t be ready in time for our aircraft. The woes of ALIS are comparable to Phoenix. Can’t wait for ODIN. In many ways...
I keep telling my Muslim /Jewish friends/neighbours, they haven’t lived until they have eaten Canadian bacon. Yum! Should be at the top of the food triangle.
LtGen Jamie Speiser-Blanchet has publically supported a 5th gen airforce. I think much of ‘entertaining’ Gripen is theatre to pressure Trump on trade. Personally, if the commander says she needs 5th gen, I would support her. I just don’t think either aircraft fully delivers on our needs. IMHO...
You missed Lockheed is combat systems integrator for River Class including as you mentioned Aegis. RQ9B (Hellfires) , C130J and I’m sure other kit. Being the largest defence contractor in the world, Lochmart is bound to involved some of our contracts.
It’s not just Landed immigrants. Canada is just too expensive. I’ve worked with and been friends with many Canadian immigrants whom have left for more affordable places to live or better pay and/or lower taxes. USA, Europe, Australia
Both companies are hungry to feed at the Canadian trough. One is out in the open pretending to offer zillions in numbers of Canadian jobs and the other is employing people using their RCAF credentials (hence schill) to sell their product.
