CMMA - replacing the CP140 Aurora

R & D; an earlier edition of CDR captured the amount of r&d $$ (it was lots) the USN put into the P-8 project. Why would we re-do that process with something like a 6500? It’s the jet equivalent of a CASA 235. A “MPA”, but also “not really”. Also in the CDR edition, it spoke to the...

    Updated Army Service Dress project

Without going to the pub, the wording is “commanders can standardize the wearing of uniforms…subj to overall command direction”. Overall command direction would = CDS issued pubs, no? The wording about polishing was there in previous versions but is removed now. Seems pretty reasonable to...

RPAS (was JUSTAS): the project to buy armed Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAVs

The number of RPAS we are getting total, coupled with the # of LOT they will be maxed at once they achieve FOC doesn’t deserve any more bandwidth on “should Pilot WOs be flying them?”. I’ll wait for the GoC and / or RCAF to release those #s of course; I’ll say no one who attended the briefing I...

Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

The average Canadian voter cares little about defence. If the government cuts spending and there is no public outcry, none of us should be surprised when defence gets torpedoed. What the govt needs is some “consequences of its decisions” internationally. We won’t change internally - people...

Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

Lossie was predominantly a Typhoon base during those years; the group was mostly interested in fighters but would also see us, USN, and French MPAs show up for exercises and ops on a fairly regular basis. When there was no exercise in the news, it was likely a wee bit obvious what those...

Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

Ya. Just glad they didn’t take pics of people and post faces etc. We’d pass them on the way to Delta hard after the brief at the MAOC and they’d wave…

Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

Yup. Sounds like a tactical C/S, talking to ATC they’d probably be using a “normal” one until they chopped operational. There was plane spotter group in Lossiemouth that used to monitor the frequencies and post our ATC and Op callsigns, as well as when we took off and in what direction and...

RPAS (was JUSTAS): the project to buy armed Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAVs

Ahh, seen. I think the RPAS allowance should fall somewhere around the higher end LDA - SOF Supporter CAT 1 levels in terms of $. I have no doubt they will be high demand/high op tempo/high burn-out.
