    Benefits Cut...

So I have a question: What about people who are posted to training establishments for 1 year courses? Staff college, LFTSP etc. As far as I know they can either go IR or move their family. It is clearly a temporary situation (doesn't last 365 days) and there are generally no quarters available...

    Improved Combat Uniform

Uh, based on the MERX extension, I assume we're all a long way away from getting this kit. So who cares about all these patch and who gets what when conversations?

The brown Temperate Combat Boot (AKA: Mk IV Cbt Boot) - No longer CADPAT

UK forces are adopting a brown boot: http://www.strikehold.net/2012/07/23/british-armed-forces-get-new-combat-boot/#more-8407 Interestingly: As part of a contract worth £80m, troops will have the choice of wearing five different boots depending on where they are based and what job they are...

The brown Temperate Combat Boot (AKA: Mk IV Cbt Boot) - No longer CADPAT

I was sized before the end of the fiscal year, but then the contract didn't get renewed so I am currently waiting. Hopefully the same company gets the new contract, otherwise I'm going to have to get molded again... All of this to get crap boots.

Army Communication & Information Systems Specialists (Sig Op, Lineman and LCIS Amalgamation)

I think that there should be no privates at JSR, and soldiers should be DP2.1 qualified Cpls prior to posting there. There is a minimal need for CNR at the unit, they will end up bored and disgruntled. Privates from the school should ALL go to the 3 Brigades, this will give them the exposure to...

Amen. And stop sending DP1 troops to CFJSR. The absolute worst place to send a Pte.

    Sit-Ups- On The Way Out?

+1 on Dr. McGill. I tried to get the military to refer me to his clinic for my back issues... no dice. So I read his books instead, and integrated his concepts into my training.

JTF-2/Airborne destined for land north of Trenton?

The last I heard, they were timing the move to coincide with the predicted retirement bubble that is going to hit them whether they move or not... a lot of the 'plank-holders' are getting up there...

JTF-2/Airborne destined for land north of Trenton?

I was in Trenton for a few years, it was a great place to work but the town is horribad, no way I would live there... Luckily there are a lot of great places within the geographic boundaries. A lot of those soldiers have been in one place for a long time, wives are established with careers of...

Fitness for Operational Requirements of CAF Employment ( FORCE )

It all comes down to human rights and universality of service. I am not sure if anyone has contested the current PT testing, but if the EXPRES/BFT combo was contested we would probably lose. The current regime of testing is not based on a BFOR. The whole point of this is to have that BFOR...

Fitness for Operational Requirements of CAF Employment ( FORCE )

The problem with all of the run - pushup - situp - rope climb test is that they aren't correlated to any occupational task. Sure if you can max the events then you are going to be in good shape but, this doesn't mean that you are training efficiently to do your job. This is why the assaulters...

Fitness for Operational Requirements of CAF Employment ( FORCE )

The final version of the  test is supposed to be able to be administered in a variety of locations and environments including on austere deployments... I'm very curious, we (CF) are actually a world leader in BFOR military fitness standards.

Fitness for Operational Requirements of CAF Employment ( FORCE )

I think the point is that they are hopefully going to be unbiased. We aren't the most trustworthy when it comes to assessing fitness tests. I have seen a lot of people 'pass' physical fitness test elements that they either didn't do or failed... trench dig comes to mind.

Fitness for Operational Requirements of CAF Employment ( FORCE )

I have it from a pretty good source that all the elements have signed off on using whatever Project FORCE delivers. All of the 'extra fitness' jobs (JTF2, CSOR, divers, firefighter, SAR tech) will still do their own tests. Also I have been hearing that the Army is now doing the EXPRES and BFT...

Fitness for Operational Requirements of CAF Employment ( FORCE )

It happens all the time. Periodically you will see a CANFORGEN about PSP running the 5 common tasks test on a base somewhere. This is so all of the 'last chance' people can go do the test. Remember, once you go through the failures, remedial PT etc, the last hope to remain in is to pass the 5...

    Sit-Ups- On The Way Out?

The situps are on their way out, and I wouldn't be surprised if pushups are going too. Neither exercise is a true measure of anything that we do occupationally. There is a new test coming: PSP is working on Project FORCE, to replace the EXPRES test. It will likely be some kind of circuit and...

    Replacing the pack system?

Great idea but the only way to do it, is to continue on the current path and wipe the slate clean as if CTS never issued packs and tacvest. The current pouches won't work with MOLLE based systems and vice versa.
