Worldcup 2006 (Note: May contain spoilers if you are recording games)

The whole English team reminded me of our Olympic hockey team. Tons of talent, but couldn't score a goal to save their mothers. Go Germany!!

    Ipods

+1, all download systems (with the exception of Limewire) are unreliable. In Kazaa's case, they are paid to put spyware into your downloads. BitTorrent can be a little bit iffy too. My computer needed to be taken in after I got it.

Worldcup 2006 (Note: May contain spoilers if you are recording games)

I'll be watching the cup with a lot of foreigners, so chances are I'll be cheering for Serbia and Iran. But if otherwise applicable, go Netherlands!

    Friendly Fire by Michael Friscolanti

I finished it just last month, having started it over Christmas. I experienced the same feeling you have. Yes, most of what lies beyond is legal argument, but it seemed to get more interesting as it went along, when he actually starts detailing the strategies of the prosecutors and defence...

Heck, Mig-29's have even shown themselves on ebay before, and a former Blue Angel.

    Compendium of Canadian Regiments (Book)

While looking around a bookstore, I came across a book titled "Compendium of Canadian Regiments: a Civilian's Perspective." An examination of the book gave me a few surprises - namely that it is not some sort of "Encyclopaedia Regimentia," but actually even features chapters regarding the...

    Counting the Homeless

30 000 people is astronomically high. Calgary has only 1500 homeless people - which I would be willing to guess as the highest rate of homelessness in the country. Even if Toronto was as bad as Calgary (and Alberta in general) at supplying housing, Toronto still wouldn't have more than 7500...

    Cavalry after the mid-1800s?

The Rhodesian military had a cavalry regiment called Grey's Scouts, and that was only 30 odd years ago. They were even known for using camo paint on their mounts. They were more of a mounted infantry regiment than a traditional cavalry force, though.

    F-18 "Shoots" Down F-22

These things do happen. When the F-15 was being tested, they were finding F-5s being a match simply by virtue that when flying in formation, their onboard computers couldn't differentiate from friend or foe. I'm sure that problem has since been corrected in the last 20 years... just like...

    The Arctic Monkeys

I saw one of their music videos on MuchMusic the other day. I wasn't too impressed, to say quite honestly. The local paper had a article skyptical of the band, largely based upon past experiences with other products of Britain's Hypemachine (Sigue Sigue Sputnik, anyone?), and how many bands have...

    The Seal Hunt Mega-Thread

On a similar note: http://www.petakillsanimals.com/ To add silicone to the flinging of internal body parts, Pamela Anderson too has joined the voices of the rich and well off, decrying the seal hunters as being "greedy." http://www.mytelus.com/music/article.do?pageID=home&articleID=2211936&lid=hp2

    BOXER REBELLION: ANY CANADIANS

I have never heard of any Canadians being involved in the Boxer Rebellion, but as you said, it seems unlikely that there would be no Canadian presence among the British forces. Unawareness of history is an unfortunate part of being Canadian. Until a few weeks past, I had never heard of the...

Making Canada Relevant Again- The Economic Super-Thread

While to summarize, "it would make sense," you and I both know how these governments operate. When there was a call to establish a National Securities regulator, everyone but Ontario balked. Certainly a more complicated situation, but I believe many provinces would rather stick to the status-quo...

Making Canada Relevant Again- The Economic Super-Thread

While what the Irish have done has been truly fantastic, I wonder how the government could manage to establish a national flat tax (isn't Ireland a Unitary state?) - I feel the provinces would be the biggest hurdles in trying to achieve an economic liberalization. The Feds could lower their tax...

I know we've been asking for more advertising of the Canadian Forces...

Sorry, I wasn't being sarcastic back there. I'm 100% certain that us soldiers could whip up something that would kick in the teeth of any of our current advertisements, certainly the radio ad. The TV ads are rather good, but it seems that are other print and radio ads seem to rely more upon...
