    Wrinkley gabardine

That was nearly 20 years ago when I moved to the booming metropolis of North End Dartmouth. After many lessons learned: I hang all my kit up after I use it. Have one set of DEU's in plastic at all times. Always get a haircut the day prior of wearing my DEU's. (If I am wearing my DEU's, I am...

    Wrinkley gabardine

Just a quick dit. I had a wrinkled old style Navy gabardine. So I took the advice of the hot shower trick from my LS. Well, I got home to my apartment, put the gabardine on a plastic hangar (insert foreshadowing) and cranked it. Went to the couch, promptly fell asleep. Woke up 30 minutes later...

More sailors needed for Canada's warships

At sea is at sea, and I think we have a good balance in that area. The issue is not with cleaning stations specifically, but the management of our 8 hour day alongside. The Navy is (trying) improving the duty watch system and encourage PT. I have seen this trend and I like it and I applaud...

More sailors needed for Canada's warships

I agree with nick2k post. I see his frustration every day with new people when they join the ship and we make them do everything but their job. When they are not cleaning, we make them do redundant WHIMIS training and other BS. To start to retain sailors we have to adjust our outdated thinking...

OP APOLLO 2001-2002-after 7 months of insanity/boredom/uncertainty on board HMCS IROQUOIS, we were finally heading home after leaving Majorca. The C&PO's Mess Committee had bought all kinds of nice food (cheese/meats) etc The CO comes on the PIPE, announcing we are back in Canadian...

INFANTRY or BOSUN, Input needed, thanks

you will not get seasick on land, that may be a factor in your decision. Seasickness may not seem like an issue sitting in your cozy living room but the Grand Banks in January can (will) make you pray for a FOB in Kandahar. I am a sailor, ex-infantry and I would have stayed Army. Nothing...

    Nijmegen Marches - Merged Thread

Just a quick question: I am posted to a ship and always sailing and do not have the time to train on a team. I would like to go as a independent marcher during my annual leave. My parents met on this March in 1969 as my Dad was posted in Soest (Fort Chambly) and my Mom is from Eindhoven...

    Most dreadful PT experience

mine was when the Battalion was formed up for PT outside and me in the taxi coming in from a night of debauchery...late...and the CSM scowling at me. Talk about embarrassing. only 20 extras at HQ. I may be laughing when I am writing this now but I wasn't then.
