    How the public views us

Just curious, why exactly do you want to join the Cdn Military vs. US? (Aside from the wannabe JTF2 title - that can easily be wannabe SEAL) Also, have you already applied? If so, how was the application process, how much difficulty did you have?

    Call For Help

I can offer up some bandwidth and space. Basically I got around 50-100MB/day worth of traffic and roughly 50-75MB of disk space. I can host static stuff like the little icons and avatars and some images. I‘m on pair networks right now, they have some good deals so you might want to check them...

Would Mandatory National Service make the CF stronger?

You can add the Phillipines to that list.

    New Soldier

I‘m surprised to hear this (congrats Dacier BTW). I knew that there was no physical fitness std per se for the reserves, but I was sure that reg force had one. On my basic course we did at least a couple of 8K runs interlaced with about 60-75 pushups all in about 50 minutes. Never did much in...

    Interview advice (merged)

lol.. stick with Arty. You‘ve spoken with WO Anderson then? So you start basic in Sept I take it (provided everything goes well of course). You may end up with CSM McIntyre (48th - also infantry out of Moss Park) running PT on your basic. Watch out! He‘ll run you into the ground :) But...

Interesting, what made you decide to go Artillery?

    Interview advice (merged)

Hey Arty and Nuforce and Dire , good luck with the tests! The best advice I can give for the interview is to just relax and be honest. They aren‘t going to give you the 3rd degree. It‘s probably more important to show that you are a person of character. Arty, are you going Reg for Reserve?

    skipping boot camp

I agree. Don‘t let your instructors hear you repeatedly call it "boot camp" Besides, the term "boot camp" only applies to the USMC. The US Army also uses the term basic training.

Canadian Forces Aptitude Test (CFAT) [MERGED]

1 min per question is ALOT of time. Believe me. Later on during basic and your subsequent courses is when you‘ll really appreciate the value of a minute (even seconds) But I digress, the CFAT is not hard. Stay calm and answer the questions that you can immediately figure out. That‘ll give...

    Training Preparations

Well I have Saucony Trigon Durable. http://www.saucony.com/product_detail.aspx?modelID=10000009&shoeID=10000022&type=M They didn‘t markup the parade square that I could see and they are a really good pair of running shoes. Highly recommend them. They retailed for about $140 for me.

    Training Preparations

One thing that really helped me on basic with the running was to just switch the brain off. Look at the guy in front of you and follow him. Simple as that, don‘t think about anything other than just following him (or her as the case maybe). Of course if you don‘t have anyone to follow (i.e...

    Training Preparations

3K minimum will probably be ok (that‘s where I started). I would recommend that you bump that up to 5K though. It wouldn‘t be unheard of to run 8-10K on basic.

inferno, what happens when you try to run/jog? The run-walk system is great for beginners.

    Training Preparations

D-n-A, I would not recommend running with the ruck on. Shuffling is okay, but sprinting is not a good idea. All it would take is one little slip and an akward fall and you could end up in a world of hurt. On another note, the navy seal workout is great reference to get yourself ready for BMQ.

Merged Quotes and Sayings Thread; some useful, some junk

From ShakeSpeare‘s Henry V: Best speach I‘ve ever heard in my life. (Henry) "That he which hath no stomach to this fight, Let him depart; his passport shall be made, And crowns for convoy put into his purse; We would not die in that man‘s company That fears his fellowship to die with us...

    Awkward question about BMQ

lol.. that was funny.. yes Korus is right, typically X number of stalls would be closed off. On my BOTP what did was close off the urinals and 1 of 3 stalls in each bathroom. So yeah, you have time if you need it. After all, almost everyone needs to take a whiz in the morning :)

    Getting jacked off duty

Ok, here‘s a question that may or may not be related. As a (now qualified) 2Lt, I‘ve been addressing everyone up to WO by their rank and name. However, for MWO and CWO, I‘ve been calling them CSM, BSM, RSM whatever, just because the ones I‘ve met just happened to have those appointments...
