heh.. if you don‘t like running now, you will
by the time you finish basic :D
You can probably get in with what you‘ve got now,
but just keep in mind that they aren‘t going to
do a step test for PT, it‘ll be running.
I was wearing my normal glasses throughout my
BOTP and it was fine. Just don‘t wear them when
you are doing PT. It was a bit of a nuisance
when we were doing NBC, since you can‘t wear your
glasses when you put on your gas mask.
I know some other people who wore contacts though
so it all...
Its possible to pass the step test w/o going
out and running the 2.4k (heck I never did),
depending on your current cardiovascular
endurance.
However, its definately in your best interest
to go out and run run run.. because when you
hit basic you‘re going to be doing ALOT of
running.
Hey Kmac, if you‘re planning on applying as an
officer, in my area they do have the BOTP course
running every other weekend (Sep - April).
However, if you don‘t apply until mid-Aug you
might be too late for this year. In which case
you may have to do the summer course in 2004
or wait until...
Ok, personally I don‘t really give a rat‘s *** why
a person decided to the join the army. As far
as I‘m concerned if you follow the rules, look out
for your troops and serve canada before self then
you‘re fine.
But I want to comment on the whole 10km in
48 minutes thing.
The basic...
If you can do 20 proper situps on your own (w/o
anchoring your feet), you‘ll be fine for the test.
After all, during the test they have someone
holding your feet. You‘ll be able to leverage your
hip flexors in getting up there faster with
someone holding your feet.
Methyl‘s right.. they...
I agree with the above posters. If you‘re really
serious about this the first thing you need to
do is get accustomed to waking up at or before
0500 hours (5 a.m.)
Your fitness level will definately need to be there.
You don‘t sound overweight, in fact underweight.
I‘m 5‘10" and 200 lbs (for...
I‘m currently reading the Guest Editorial;
Rebuilding the Canadian Army: The lessons of
Sparta and Athens by Sgt Arthur Majoor, CD in
that volume.
Very good read
I‘m in the middle of my course so I‘ll let you know
when I‘m done.
But portcullisguy may be able to answer this better
since he seems to be almost done his.
Hey MethylSilane, is BOTP still on for RCMI on
Thursday? I haven‘t recieved any notices either
way.
As for the interview.. just be yourself, be honest
and open. Be aware of current events and its
always nice to have an opinion about it, especially
if it concerns the military. Remember full...
Veteran‘s Son: I believe the required number of
pushups is 19. Or has it changed again?
I almost quit basic. Not because of PT or anything
but because it was mentally exhausting.. but I‘m
sticking with it.
If you‘re thinking about quitting basic because its
just too "hard" just remember to...
how did you get all the qualifications? I can‘t
even find servers to play on :(
on the bright side, I really do like the attention
to detail in this game.
e.g.
when loading a mag into the M16 he actually
hits the bolt catch and the forward assist..
very cool. but he does fail to inspect...
Yeah I‘ve played America‘s Army. Not bad actually.
I have a hard time finding servers to play on
though. It seems like all the servers time out on
me.
So, if anyone is willing to setup a server and host
a few games, I‘ll be happy to show up and play
when I have some time! :)
None if I‘m correct. Your peripheral vision is not
tested on the medical.
However, you will need fairly good peripheral
vision during basic, mainly when dressing off
in ranks or marching and such.
