I‘m slated for both BOTP(R) and CAP(R) this summer.

I‘d like to know whether or not contact lenses can be worn on course? I‘m guessing this would not be practical in such an environment.

Otherwise, I imagine I‘ll have to go buy new, robust glasses prior to my courses... I didn‘t select my current pair with basic training in mind.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers,

Mark

PS perhaps my joining instructions will cover this matter, however at this point I‘m still trying to figure out WHERE the courses will be...

You should be entitled to a free pair of Canadian Army gasmask glasses, also known as "birth control" because they‘re so **** ugly. Check with your recruiter to see if you can get a set issued before your training starts.

The reserves don‘t get those anymore, do they?
I could use a stylin‘ pair to go with my mask.. :)

Mark,

I am also slated to do BOTP (R) and CAP (R) this summer. I‘m joining from a montreal unit, you?

As for glasses/contacts - I have the same issue.

I had been told that contact lenses were ok for the most part. I have ‘extended wear‘ lenses that I just got. You can wear them for up to 30 days without taking them off - they‘re great. I will also bring my ‘more robust‘ glasses.

I have been told that my training was in either valcartier or gagetown.... BOTP from May 26 - Jul 2 - CAP from Jul 3 - Aug 8.. Are you in the same sitatuation?

email me at: [email protected]

We can try and figure this all out.

Take care,
Gabriel

I was wearing my normal glasses throughout my
BOTP and it was fine. Just don‘t wear them when
you are doing PT. It was a bit of a nuisance
when we were doing NBC, since you can‘t wear your
glasses when you put on your gas mask.

I know some other people who wore contacts though
so it all depends I guess.
