    Fighting is for men

Here's a short story regarding the blue rockets from a few years ago.  A new private (female type) came up to me during the day and proceeded to state that she thought we should lay claim on one of the rockets a bit of a distance away as the female rocket.  I proceeded to ask her for a count...

    Year of the Veteran Commercial

Personally, I rather liked being represented by a fellow female CF member on the coin.  Perhaps the examples you've given have irritated some here (the $10 bill, etc.) but, in general, I find there isn't alot of representation that the public sees of females in uniform.  I've actually been...

    Canadians no longer remember

There was literally standing room only at our small Remembrance Day ceremony in my hometown today.  It was great to see so many out.  This ceremony has also been increasing in the last few years.

    Purpose of Reserve Maintenance trades?

I would like to initiate a discussion regarding the "reason for being" of reserve maintenance trades, specifically the weapons trades. Most weapons technicians in the reserve world are found in service battalions and very few employed in first line units.  In my experience the first line techs...

At the weapons school this summer the info was that the 84mm isn't going anywhere fast.

    Nova Scotia Thread- Merged

I've never been posted to either base but I've lived quite a few years of my life in Nova Scotia.  I currently live only 10 minutes from Greenwood.  The people from the base I speak to (I see alot as I work in a veterinary hospital with many clients from Greenwood) all seem to enjoy the...

    The Bag and certain pitfalls

paracowboy you are hilarious!  Tell me though, what does one do when one has no metabolism?  For example, the ability to hold heat like Saran Wrap??  Is long underwear allowed then or can one graduate to the fuzzy pants??

    Cougars - NOT the AFV

armyvern, Sadly, I was informed this summer that 30 is classified as a Cougar.  And here I thought I was still a youngin'.  I still haven't gotten over it...... ;D

    Problems with CADPAT

There's nothing wrong with having the lower pockets still present.  If wearing armour, don't use them.  This is assuming that the other pockets have been added.  I use the lower pockets for putting weapons parts into while doing a repair in the field, hard to lose them there.

    Relax and Chill out!

I couldn't agree more with paracowboy!  I think most of you are WAY overanalyzing everything.  Its nice to have a heads up and some info about what you're getting into so that you can make informed decisions on trades, postings, etc.  When it comes to recruit training and what comes after...

Should men be allowed to join women-only gyms?

To answer the question...yup.  The only reason these places have stayed open is because no one has challenged them to date.  We'll see what happens now.  Watch and shoot.

The brown Temperate Combat Boot (AKA: Mk IV Cbt Boot) - No longer CADPAT

signalsguy,  they are still trialing them to my knowledge as a friend of mine in Ottawa is involved in the trial.  He wore them all summer on course and seemed to like them as well.

    New Orleans

In regards to the animals, my bet is that the Veterinary Emergency Reponse teams have been deployed.  What they can do right now is probably very little but as things return more to normal I'm sure they will be accomplishing alot in helping the animals that did survive.  More may survive than...

    Army.ca Chat [merged]

RHF, Were you thinking of a more formal chat with particular topic(s) for that night or something more informal? If it is the former, members could post their ideas for topics on a thread and one could be picked for each week.  Thoughts?
