You should inquire about EME Common which is usually required prior to your QL3 course.  They usually run them in the summertime so you may have time to do both SQ and EME common this year.

New guys in our unit have had it broken up.  You do the courses you can when you can.  If you can't do SQ right after Basic there is often an SQ offered on weekends during the winter.
