    Lab work at R.M.C..

There is more lab time in 1st and 2nd year than you can shake a stick at. In 3rd and 4th it will depend on your course selection, but you will still have at least 2-3 labs a week (bare minimum). You might want to do a bit more research on the facilities at RMC. Wook

Friendly Advice for potential Infantry Officer candidates

That is a CTC issue, not so much an Infantry School issue. It stems from an incident 2 years ago where a candidate on Ph3 BFT ended up with extreme heat stroke and experienced a loss of vital signs on way to hospital. Part of the fallout of the BOI was an ExPres test at the start of the course...

Mathieu LeClair, R.I.P.: Body Identified as missing RMC Cadet

RIP OCdt LeClair. Condolences to his family and friends. It's kind of funny describing RMC as a "small unit" when there are well over 1200 people roaming the peninsula, but that's what it certainly feels like. Everyone knows everyone, especially in the Sqns (even us cranky old guys). Wook

    Child Soldiers

This was a very large part of our Combat Psychology course. We used an encounter the Brits had in Sierra Leone a few years ago. http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2009/05/21/think_again_child_soldiers "The British Army only recognized the problem after one of its patrols was captured by...

    Living with an OSI.

:goodpost: I'm on my 3rd TCat, waiting for the PCat to be approved by DMedPol (been waiting 11 months now while on 3rd TCat). While release has been mentioned, it is only in passing as "it may happen" and to "prepare" me if it comes to that. They can't even begin release proceedings without a...

For more info, here is the official book for the Padre's (and the rest of us really): http://cmp-cpm.forces.mil.ca/pub/rc/doc/rc-eng.pdf It does not have the abbreviations, just some brief background on the recognized religions/sects in Canada. DWAN only so far. FYI, Wicca starts on p.117  ;D...

Vets' 'Budman: More info needed in decision letters

;D Makes me want to break out into song ..... my cubicle mates will be SURE that I've lost it then  :P I had a look at my most recent letter (from 2 weeks ago) from my 6 month PTSD reassessment. It falls into one of the 65%. I remember at the time I was wondering why they quoted some piece of...

Vets' 'Budman: More info needed in decision letters

Been through the report and I must say it is fairly straight forward. It made me think though, about my letters over the last few years. I'm going to dig mine out and have a look, just to see what mine said and how much detail is in them. Might be an interesting academic exercise. I am not...

CAF international bases, staging areas, and fighting formations

lol no doubt. I wonder if this will come with an increase in postings or if this is one of those smoke and mirror type announcements that say something "new" but things stay the same. Wook

Veterans Review and Appeal Bd: pressure to reject claims, spying, junkets (MERGED)

Agreed. This stuff fires up my paranoia like nothing else. I'm no (im)famous Vet advocate or anything lol but it always scares me when these privacy issues come up. Like Vern said, if they are willing (and able) to treat one of their own like this...what are they willing to do to me? Mind you...

Widely spread misconception - Mixing military inform with civilian clothing -Tee

Umm first off, where the heck to I begin??? You have to learn the difference between an order you do not like and an ILLEGAL order. Ordered to kill unarmed (the term "innocent" can be used in a variety of ways) civilians is illegal. Full stop. Ordered to change your shirt/hat/mukluks = legal...

Widely spread misconception - Mixing military inform with civilian clothing -Tee

Certain schools make it mandatory to wear green shirts, most often mixed with civi shorts/track pants, for unit PT. I see it all the time in the gym, so I can't imagine that in and of itself that wearing a green t-shirt is a chargeable offence. I'm sure the Base and respective school RSM's would...

    BMQ and Medical in general

The kitchen at CFLRS is one of the best that I have eaten at in a number of years. There is never a shortage of fresh fruit and there are always "healthier" choices. Will you be able to maximize your protein vs carb amounts down to the mg? No. Will you be able to maximize calories "earned" vs...

    OSI & VAC

 thanks Jimmy. And a note: The OSISS guys are not the same as the OSI Clinic (at least not here). The clinic is in Freddie, but the OSISS office is right in the Q's in Oromocto. Wook

    OSI & VAC

Agree with Tess. The OSISS guys are just that, normal guys. With some good training to boot and the experiences to back it up, not some 2nd year social worker that has no idea what the hell you are talking about. The ones I have spoken to here in Gagetown are excellent (Fred and ?? crap forget...

    Logistics Officer - Sea [Merged]

SentryMAn has a number of good suggestions, and his point on difficulty level is spot on. LOCC is like being fed with a firehose. The exam sucks, hard. The time constraints you will be under, you have likely never experienced before (even if you had served in the ranks or in a previous trade)...
