Just be aware though that for the CFs to pick up the tab on safety toe footwear, it has to be CSA approved.  Although most tactical footwear companies will offer safety toe boots, very few of them will go through the added expense and paperwork of getting them CSA approved. It might be an idea...

So here's what we're calling our 'ZAP # Battle Badge' We've got a national identifier (Canadian Flag), rank, blood type, drug allergy information, and the member's service number formatted onto a 4" x 4" Velcro attached patch.

UKSFG has been using Crye's Multicam pattern in theatre for some time, however the 'UK-MTP' camouflage pattern is an entirely new pattern (although it is closely related to Multicam) developed for for general forces usage.

The tender for the CF's version of the OTW shirt has also been pushed back to December 28th to close, and as such, delivery will likely also be pushed back to the point where TF 1-10 will likely receive these after they've been in theatre for some time.

I was just informed by the PWGSC official in charge of this procurement that it's currently cancelled and awaiting re-tendering, because none of the bidders were deemed to be compliant with the technical specifications.  A new delivery date (later than March 31st) will be determined by DND as...

I'm referring to the M-9 Assault Boot which was black full grain leather, Gore-Tex lined, with no side zip.  We still carry the M-9 Desert Assault Boot, but due to regulations restricting the wear of side zipped boots within most CF units, we do not carry the M-9 Assault with side zips.

We're completely out of stock on the Bates M-9 Assault Boot.  Until Bates resurrects this boot, it's relegated to the history books.

Captain's bars are usually done for inspection purposes so as to have a neat and tidy way to tuck away your excess boot laces.  In the 12 years I was in the military, I never saw anyone tying their boots using that method...I find it suspect that a 'Captain's bar' lacing arrangement would create...

I find the LFCA Commander's comments interesting in that the issued Hot Weater/Desert Boots for wear in Afghanistan have a nylon upper section with a polyester/nylon lining, and the next generation of Army combat boots (The CTS Temperate Combat Boot) has a nylon upper with a polyester/nylon...

So would it be better just to do the badge with the following stuff: -Canadian Flag -Rank (either abbreviated, i.e. Sgt, or the actual rank symbol?) -Blood Type & Drug Allergy Info -Service Number I'll try and get a preview of such a formatted 'ZAP' Battle Badge done up next week.

Do the CFs currently use a ZAP number system similar to the British Army? For the uninitiated, ZAP numbers are set up so that it's possible to send personal information, i.e. casualty identification over insecure means without overtly identifying the identity of the person. A British Forces...
