Oh, I agree that he's serious about getting things done with the economy. I just think that with a different leader in the US and a different geopolitical situation his priorities would have likely shifted with less weight on the military side of the scale.
I'd count myself as one of those generally approving of where Carney appears to be heading (time will tell what comes of it) but I have my doubts that he would be so hawkish on defence were there not the pressure of Trump's policies.
