France is a proponent of Europe moving ahead without fealty to the U.S. https://www.reuters.com/world/time-europe-become-geopolitical-power-frances-macron-says-2026-02-13/ Particularly of note, his position on nuclear deterrence: (particularly germain to the juxtaposition of the old deterrence...

    2026 US-Denmark Tensions/End of NATO

Putting this here since most closely related to European security mindedness. https://www.reuters.com/business/media-telecom/rubio-casts-us-child-europe-critical-friend-allies-2026-02-14/ My take: Vance’s previous message at the 2025 MSC, with a bit of Rubio’s ‘Dr.Evil’s love of his son...

    2026 US-Denmark Tensions/End of NATO

I doubt it. UK is a vassal nuclear nation of the US. The U.S. completely controls the Trident nuclear capabilities of the UK. Essentially a non-conventional extension of U.S. nuclear capability stationed/pre-positioned in the European AO.

    2026 US-Denmark Tensions/End of NATO

More on France’s nuclear umbrella, vis-a-vis non-US deterrence. Note explicit mention of Poland and Germany discussing such with France. Others as well, no doubt. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canada-france-europe-nuclear-weapons-9.7089805 And Canada’s coming to the day of reckoning on...

    Europe

Just kidding…totally unsurprised by this. Several ‘conventional’ nations have had discussions with France about ‘robust collective deterrent’ postures. The Brit’s have no spine in that regard. They are a nuclear vassal of the U.S., so there will be no non-conventional deterrent talk from the...

    2026 US-Denmark Tensions/End of NATO

Some say that Poland has rigged the Suwalki corridor to BBIP*. Even if the U.S. orders V Corps to sit on its hands and do nothing, the Poles would pummel the living crap out of Vlad’s Lads, screaming “Katyń!!!” * Blast Belarus in place…

If France hadn’t agreed earlier with Germany to include DEU underneath its nuclear umbrella. These aren’t the Germany and France of immediately post-45. Poland already (very discretely) said as much last year when it formed an agreement with France that implicates the aforementioned...

All Things AB Separatism (split fm Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???)

It’s quite naive to believe that a recently separated Alberta, beholden to America with a half trillion dollar loan, would remain its own independent nation.

CAN-USA Tariff Strife (split from various pol threads)

I think *members of his staff know exactly why Canada is in no rush to ‘deal a deal’ with the U.S. - SCOTUS decision still not issued, USMCA negotiations not yet formally kicked off, any number of behind-the-scenes whispering campaigns to make issues out of non-issues.…the list goes on. A...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Mindful that we never operated a CF-188 from a CVN AFAIK, what would you say are the interoperability +/- of both the Rafale and Gripen?
  16. Good2Golf

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Absolutely there are, but Rafale M is quantitatively more interoperable than Gripen E, would you agree?

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Rafale the only reasonable option that is not controlled by the US, but that has categorically proved interoperable up to and including integrated operations from a USN nuclear carrier.
