    Mukluks

I agree, I do this even if I'm just going out to the range for the day.  However, if you are entitled to Gore-tex socks, you shouldn't have to go begging and borrowing from buddies with big flippers.  Just go down to clothing and exchange them for a size 14 set.  Those will do ya unless your...

Bored and want suggestions for a decent FPS Game

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.  Good story, good plot, great graphics, excellent gameplay, all around great game.  I highly recommend it, and I consider myself somewhat of a FPS aficionado.

    Separation pay/benefits

Reviving a necro thread..... A couple questions regarding separation pay.  Wife is in CFSAL in Borden, I'm at CTC Gagetown on my DP3A Inf, F&E and the cats and Q are in Petawawa.  Wife is getting Sep pay, and I'm getting TD.  Is this right, or are we only entitled to one kind of pay per service...

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

"Uniformity" is an antiquated term that has absolutely NO place on the modern battlefield.  No two soldiers are built the same, move the same, do the same job or carry the exact same kit, so why should they all look exactly the same.  This isn't "Zulu."  The days of "Front rank kneeling, rear...

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

Your on the EXACT right track, a system whereby a variety of rigs is available and the individual gets to choose between them would be even better.

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

To all the people who have said "Well, its better than the (insert pattern year here) (insert item of kit here) so I don't see why he's complaining."... STOP, STOP, STOP!  The wet weather boot for example is light years ahead of ankle boots and puttees, but they are still a poor design.  In...

HSGI Wasatch<<<<Has anybody used this plate carrier?

I used the HSGI Warlord V2 on TF 3-06 and liked it quite a bit, but if I had to do it all over again I would get the V3.  For my V2 I put HSGI's mini-EOD pouches in the PAL's webbing on the sides to hold my IFAK on the right and Night fighting gear on the left.  This made the rig quite wide and...

ANA to get C7s? from the Globe and Mail 13 Aug 2007

Why are you suggesting we support them the way you are?  The whole purpose is for us to help them stand on their own feet and then leave at a time that they can take care of themselves.  The way you are talking it sounds as though we will be in Afghanistan and supporting the ANA logistically...

Poll on CTV *dot* ca about the LAV-3

I sent a comment here:  [email protected]  with the subject heading "Poll questioning use of the LAV III, 07JAN08" My message was as follows: "To whomever, The results of this poll matter about as much as my predictions as to who will win the next World Cup.  You see, I know next to nothing about...

64 Pattern gone the way of the Dodo?

Your rumour may be a unit policy, as I don't see jumpers giving up the 64 pattern any time soon. If your unit is using the new CTS ruck and only the CTS ruck, don't bother with a 64 pattern.  If your unit cares not which ruck you wear, invest in a 64 only after you have decided that the issued...

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

Yes, but I don't need to be "scared" into following a direct and lawful order. The CoC knows there is better kit out there, why do you think some commanders allow troops to buy it and use it overseas?  Somewhere, someone is persuading the CoC that issued = the only thing going, and that...

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

Though the issue kit might be a little bit larger and a little bit heavier, if you get injured in spite of your personal investment in protective kit, you WON'T HAVE ANY major problems with the CFs health system AND Veteran affairs afterwards. I've said this before and I'm about to say it again...

    Infra Red Cadpat Name Tapes?

I'm going to jump on the pile ... No student in CFLRS is allowed to order and wear their own name tapes unless authorized to do so by their platoon staff.  Only after graduating are students allowed to wear a name tape.  If a student is moved from one platoon with name tapes to one without, then...
