    New Crown

Very true, which is why it seems strange to change the crown at all. The gov't should stop giving republican sympathizers more ammo to use.

    New Crown

Yes, Tudor (not Tutor), sorry for the brain fart. This new design just isn't all that good., surprisingly, since it was designed by the Canadian Heraldic Authority. Would have expected them to come up with something much better. The Order of Canada-esque insignia sitting on top of the crown...

    New Crown

There is already a heraldic Canadian "crown", the snowflake diadem. Doesn't exist IRL, only depicted on certain medals. Why not just add a couple or arches on top of it with a compass point star (North Star), and call it the Canadian Crown? Not saying we need one, but could be used to show...

    New Crown

    You're probably correct.

    New Crown

Agreed. One thing I don't get is that there will be 30,000 Coronation medals being produced and awarded, but there was no official Platinum Jubilee Medal made and awarded by the Gov't of Canada, they left it up to the provinces to do that. That was marking an achievement (reigning for 70...

    New Crown

So, not sure if it's been mentioned at all, but getting back to the supposed change in the crown design, isn't the original article just describing the Snowflake Diadem already being used on the obverse of some medals? Or is there an actual attempt at designing a Canadian Crown based on the...

A Canadian Legend, Gordon Lightfoot Passes Away At 84

Listening to him right now. (y)

    New Crown

I see nothing wrong with it, updating the crown to be a Canadian crown (something that has been discussed here before). I'll reserve final judgement until I see the final artwork.

    Sorry, please continue discussing tanks.

    Canada's tanks

This probably shouldn't be posted in this thread, but I find it really silly to see people who are NOT out in the field (either on exercise or active operations) wearing camo. WTF? Is there not work dress anymore?

    Replacing the Subs

Maybe we should bring in the draft. Wouldn't have to worry about not having enough people to crew ships (or anything else). ;)

    Updated Army Service Dress project

With Canada having an AF pilot on the Artimus(?) flight to the moon, maybe it's time to change the Air Force to the RC Aerospace Force. Dump the sky blue uniform for a charcoal grey one with silver/platinum insignia. Just don't do any kind of delta like image (like the USSF) in the official...

Are you sure that's not a sea cadet? Seems pretty short. Or maybe it's an alien dressed in square rig. ;)

    Updated Army Service Dress project

If you run for office you could (in theory) make the rules (but you'd have to be made minister of National Defense). Anyway, I'm wondering if they'd gone with a dark blue uniform for all (the army did have dress blues at one time) instead of the ugly green, might have gone a bit better...

    Updated Army Service Dress project

Getting back to the uniform topic (sorry), I wonder if things might have gone a bit more smoothly if the CF greens hadn't been adopted during unification. There seemed to be a bit (or a lot) of resistance to the new uniform, which may have been lessened if they had chosen a different colour. I...

    Chinese Military,Political and Social Superthread

Strange. Mormons that I've met have been very anti-communist (I assumed it was part of their doctrine).

    Updated Army Service Dress project

BTW, I guess to be more historically accurate, I should've stated, dark blue-grey for regular dress and khaki-tan for summer dress. The RCAF wore light green shirts with the khaki-tans. ;)

    Updated Army Service Dress project

With the Army getting old style khaki uniforms, how long do you think it will be before the RCAF decides that they should go back to their traditional uniform colour (i.e. dark blue-grey)? ;)
