Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

$19 on Amazon, looks to be slightly better version of 64pattern. Buy a bunch for the BMQ's and throw it away when it breaks

    Trump administration 2024-2028

I think Putin and Xi were successful at manipulating Trump, by saying stuff he wanted to hear and buying themselves time and space. I think Trump now realizes he was manipulated, but can't publicly admit so or do actions that make it clear that he was. Trump's first term was a shock to how the...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Back in the pre-Trump day I wanted a mix fleet of F15EX and F35's for Canada, each is very good in certain roles, together they are formidable.

    Canadian River Class Destroyer Megathread

21 engagements might be 1-2 swarms attacking the taskforce and if you are on the edge getting the brunt of it, that 21 shots is not much.

One would hope they carry at least one full reload, perhaps in a jettisonable container.

    Canadian River Class Destroyer Megathread

Wonder where the magazine is for these and how much does each munition weigh? Looking at the previously posted pictures, I suspect two men will struggle a bit to reload in a bit of a sea state, might have to cycle personal every 5 reloads or so, so they don't get worn out.

    Iran Super Thread- Merged

Ukrainians helping the Gulf States out. I know some of you disagree with how much Ukraine is helping and I have no doubt the Ukrainians are playing up their contribution in order to win friends and support for their conflict. Still I also believe they have valuable lessons to teach as well.

    Replacing the Subs

Prince Rupert will make a nice Naval Station, but there is not the population base for the specialized work to dry dock and maintain subs. Prince Rupert did build ships in WWII https://navyhistory.ca/sections/Shipyards/Prince_Rupert_Drydocks.html The only operating shipyard up there currently...

    Pipelines, energy and natural resources

I was involved in the reviews of most of the projects there, juggling the railcars and trains is a complicated task, the loop on Ridely helps a lot, but everything has to go in/out on what is basically a single line in and single line out. Here are some of the proposed projects Key Proposed...

CB 90 assault boat accident report

40kts is damm fast and things can go wrong fast. At that speed boats crew lose awareness of where they are and where they are going. That being said they are dam lucky they hit where they did and boat was able to come over the rock and stop there, instead of hitting a vertical rock face.

    Canadian River Class Destroyer Megathread

I seem to recall a weird test rig being made up on a destroyer and a pilot trying and saying never again and that was in flat calm. The planned version as I recall had the ability to counter a roll of 15 degrees wither way, no one talked about what would happen if the roll exceeded 15degrees...

MEK is a whole other ball of wax, while they are armed and organized, you really need a moderate group that is armed and organized. Fun fact, Saddam equipped MEK with Chieftains captured from Iran. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People%27s_Mojahedin_Organization_of_Iran

    Iran Super Thread- Merged

The 85 million are the sea, within it is still enough motivated people to fight. The organized internal Persian resistance is rather new and finding it's feet, they also don't have a source of arms. Get arms to them and things will change quickly.

    Iran Super Thread- Merged

Problem is they do have to defend almost everywhere, against their own population. Meaning what forces they have can't be concentrated. They need to hold the critical bits of every city and town, or risk losing it.

    Iran Super Thread- Merged

Iran is also a very big place to defend, when you have maybe 5 million supporters, with perhaps 2-300,000 gunmen and have to keep 85 million suppressed.
