I'm really interested in joining the Canadian Forces as a Logistics Officer and the Navy seems to have the best logistics program (plus I'm really interested in doing some touring on a ship, anywhere). I have a few questions about the training as listed on the CF recruiting website...
I would like to know how long each of the following courses are, I can't seem to find a lot of information on the web. These are the courses listed on the CF recruiting website for logistics officers for the navy:
- Basic Officer Training Course (15 weeks)
- Environmental Officers Common...
Where did you see a list of specialty courses? I'm interested in seeing it. To me, administration is a very broad definition meaning management. All of the specializations listed in recruiting information (i.e. Finance, HRM, Supply Chain, Transport and Food Services) represent how the Canadian...
Can someone explain what skills are taught and what equipment is used in each course for Reserve Armour Recce troops? DP1 Armour Recce Crewman and DP2 Armour Recce Observer. Also, how much time is spent in the classroom, in the G-wagon and in the field (dismounted)?
Are there travel subsidies or military flights to CF bases when training is required? For reserve officers, they need to do CAP at Gagetown but how do they get there? Can you park at a CFB and fly in for free or does your reserve unit cover part of the cost of travel? A round-trip flight from...
Thanks again for your replies. I'll be dropping by the Service Batallion in January. Just read the budget cut news on CBC.ca and read the Reserves standdown thread, not looking to good but I'll see what they say at the armoury.
Great, thanks NFLD Sapper. Just to clarify, can you tell me what PO means? Also, assume I can complete BMQ and BOTP 2. What about CAP? Is that modularized as well and can be conducted locally? I'm in Vancouver - according to a training schedule I found back in the summer, I see a couple BMQ...
I see, I see. Thanks greentoblue and NFLD Sapper. I'll be sure to ask a recruiter about BMQ and this 2 PO add-on. Would this 2 PO be a course called PRes BOTP 2 which lasts for 12 days? As for missing out on Part 3, that's a shame because I'm a Certified Management Accountant and I thought that...
Oy, for every answer there is a new question. When I compare the PRes BMQ on the Army Individual Training Calendar to BMQ on the CFLRS website, the PRes BMQ is 3 weeks while the Regular BMQ is 13 weeks.

Is there an abbreviated PRes...
Thanks Tango2Bravo and dapaterson, just a few more follow-up questions. Is that development path the same as a Regular Force officer? How long would it take to accomplish all of that training, in terms of the fastest timeframe and then the most typical timeframe? Possible to do in a 5 year...
Thank Dapaterson. But can someone confirm that a Reserve Logistics Officer needs to do CAP? Unfortunately, the job sheet on the CF Recruiting website refers to the Regular Forces. I plan on dropping by the local service batallion for more information once the new year starts, but until then, I'd...
I'm a Certified Management Accountant and I earned my degree in business administration about 8 years ago. I'm looking into joining as a Logistics Officer. What is the minimum contract length that I can sign for? A page on the CF website says 9 years but doing a search on this website references...
Yes, thank you. I did not know that there was a distance learning program as I thought all training was conducted through a reserve unit or at a CF base.
Edit: Reviewing the CF Recruiting website, it looks like I don't even have a basic understanding of the training involved. Rather than CAP...
Can someone help me understand the training path to becoming a Logistics Officer in the Primary Reserves? I am a Certified Management Accountant and I'd like to apply my skills in the Army.
1) For Basic Officer Training Program (BOTP) , is it modular or do you have to take all 15 weeks in one...
I just came across the following listing in the army individual training calendar:
RES VEH TECH QL3,4 and 5 VEH RECOVERY
It's a 4 week long course in the summer. Does anyone have any experience with this course? Can this course really cover QL3, QL4 and QL5 in such a short time?
Already asked and was given the impression it was quite the difficult road to travel. Not too much detail though, they were much better regarding NCM options. I have already submitted an application at my local unit and wrote armour officer as my third choice as the other options available...
Thanks. Unfortunately, joining the regular forces is not an option for me at the moment. I'm really keen on joining as a vehicle technician but I don't think I can do summer courses due to work. I'm still learning about how the reserves system works - it seems that a lot of job options aren't...
