    MPAC October 19th/ 2009

To be fair, you need t be successful in your assessment and not just attend.  It is not just a check in the box. Not everyone who participates in a MPAC is selected to be a MP.

09/10 Budget Impact on PRes - Unit stand-downs, Class B Freeze, and so on!

The money WAS there for 37 1/2 training days a year.  Since the scale back or what have you, those at the top asked to cut 3 days, to make it 34 1/2 training days a year per class A soldier.  So where did the money go for these reserve units that stood down early, standing back up late, and are...

09/10 Budget Impact on PRes - Unit stand-downs, Class B Freeze, and so on!

I have only been in long enough to experience a state of constant growth in the CF/Reserve.  This isn't really a full step back yet, but more of a maintain status quo.  If you've been lucky to attend any of the town halls on this issue, multiple have taken place in the NCR, then you'll...

    The Military Police [MP] Superthread

I think I'll take a stab at this one and see if I can offer up some help. Right now MP reservists do not need Police Foundations, but they have swung to requiring a High School diploma. An MP Army reservist in LFCA typically does a different job than their regular force counterparts and often...

    Sacrifice Medal Mega Thread

You're right.  Those aren't ordinary at all.  Maybe its just the "best" name they could think of?

    Sacrifice Medal Mega Thread

I don't think the name of the medal is intended to slight those who are never awarded it.  While many or should I say all CF members make multiple sacrifices during their career, it is not quite the same IMHP.  The medals name lets those not in the military know that they have sacrificed...

    Refractive Surgery Conundrum

I had wavefront PRK done while I was in college, I had it done on the friday and was back in school on the Wednesday.  PRK is better then Lasik anyhow especially for military life.  If a Lasik patient ever gets bumped or jarred in the eye for whatever reason and the flap come detached they are...

"MP's or Provost - An Idea on Roles" and "Replace base MP with RCMP"

I was trying to be sarcastic, it was in reference to a previous post. :P  But route signing, right now, is done for admin routes on base, and domestic road moves, from my understanding anyways.

"MP's or Provost - An Idea on Roles" and "Replace base MP with RCMP"

Well since the RCMP are hard up for members themselves I doubt they'd be able to provide the needed members for the job.  If the RCMP ran the show you probably wouldn't see 2-3 MPs on patrol per shift, but 2-3 MP's per det period. As for the credentials, its rather hard to lay criminal charges...

Oh dear God, you must be kidding me....

Well the new approach of locking them up and beating them isn't my idea, it was a suggestion posted by more then a few in previous posts, I simply said that that is not the answer.  Maybe there was some mix up on mine, yours, or  someone else's part.  So I guess to answer your question is that I...

Oh dear God, you must be kidding me....

Good points and I don't dispute your experience while working with/in the system. While my "studies" didn't teach me specifically about criminals, it did teach me about human behavior and how society has responded to criminal over the decades/centuries.  And as a result of the various takes on...

Oh dear God, you must be kidding me....

ZHC, you made a good argument, but then if punishment is applied consistently what happens to Joe when he commits his first offense and its a mere petty theft of say a bike.  Around $200?  what happens to him, as opposed to a kid that consistently re-offends?  is the punishments different or...

Oh dear God, you must be kidding me....

Not all Young Offenders are violent criminals so that is a pretty good reason.  The system is set up the way it is, but needs to be changed, in my opinion, for sexual, violent, and drug related crimes when it come to youth.  The system, in my opinion, needs to be changed for adults in that area...

Oh dear God, you must be kidding me....

While I would agree that the money spent is outrageous, simply locking them up and "punishing" them isn't the solution.  How would you punish them?  The youth that are committing crimes more often then not have other issues besides bas decision making.  Youth need counseling and "therapy" but...

Boot, General Purpose (Mk III acting/interim replacement)

I heard today while picking up some new kit that the Cadpat boots were a go and should be arriving this summer.  That could just be a dirty rumor though....but the person who said it had a pair on.

Russian PM asks Harper to consider Summit Series

Maybe....but over 50% of the players in the NHL are Canadian.....the Russians have a large contingent....does it really matter what everyone else does?

Russian PM asks Harper to consider Summit Series

I'm sure the NHL guys would be playing.....I think it would be the only way people would tune in.  The NHL could do it at the all star break....instead of the All Star Game....
