CAF Specialist Pay [Spec Pay]- All Trades [MERGED]

I am afraid that I cannot offer anything more and am responding because I feel anyone who asks a question on this deserves some sort of response. I have been 'chewed out' by a certain SA CPO1 here recently for 'daring' to encourage someone to ask the question during a Fireside chat. The most...

    Army/Navy/Air + a general question

The Navy doesn't have any Maritime Engineers either but we do have Marine Engineers. Regardless of whether you opt for the NCM or Officer route, you will be required to lead personnel. If you weren't nervous about what you speak of then you wouldn't be human. As was mentioned, I suggest you do...

    Mess Kit with Patent boot/shoe

In Formation Halifax (which encompasses all 3 environments within the geographical area), patent leather footwear is NOT authorized with No 1As though it is for No 2 (Mess Dress). Pat

    'Older' games on newer OSs

I run an old Combat Flight Simulator (WWII Europe Series) and it works great but if I try to make it work with a joystick-no joy. I have tried this with a couple joysticks to no avail. I am able to install it and set it up (calibrate it) 'inside' the game but it doesn't show as a controller...

Pay Scale Regular Force - Do we have also a pay scale per day for extra days?

I am not an RMS clerk and admit I could be wrong but I recall before Pre and Post DSL came out we tried doing this after deployments and could only authorize '48s'; two days short. I was told by a clerk on my last leadership course that CTO/EDO.... are forms of short leave and can only be given...

CAF uniforms don't have sizes for fit guys

I wouldn't call myself a rolly polly olly mofo but for some inexplicable reason, my girth, chest and neck have increased slightly in the last 5 years.(???) I think Logistik is restricted to using a fixed amount of material regardless of size requirement. I one case, the XLarge t shirt seems...

    Coveralls while at sea

Uhmm...You only asked if anyone could confirm what you were told. Because someone elaborated on their answer; an answer you are obviously in disagreement with, don't get mad. On another note, build a case, submit a Briefing Note to the Dress Committee (headed up by the Base Chief on whatever...

    That's right-Forgot about you guys JJ'tar - senior moment!

    Coveralls while at sea

There was an email discussion on this recently with the Base Chief (MARLANT Dress authority) stating that only submariners and Clearence Divers (and PIDs) are to be issued coveralls and NOT ship's divers (though some may have). I suspect MARPAC's BCPO echoes this. If I stumble across the email...

    June 1st Pay

We get paid for this???...I was just doing because it is so much fun! Actually, I just checked mine and nothing glaring pops out???? That said, I never took MATA/PATA.

    MESO to MAR ENG

Minor correction there Chief. An A ticket from KIN class will not be a simple endorsement to AMOC though it will work the other way. If the numbers were high enough (and Pat had his say!), RegF and Reserve could do their AMOC (on HAL, IRO and PRO classes) and then 'endorse' to an A ticket...

    Steward: Training/the work (merged)

Steward is considered a hard sea trade. That said, as many serve Army and AF as Navy.

ET's and Stokers the same trade in 2017?

Can I ask what grounds you have for the comment "Welcome to the WEng mistake".

Transportation Safety Board Investigation Report of the HMCS WINNIPEG Collision

Interesting read...It is quite obvious that WIN's crew is to blame-Just trying to beat CBC to the headline!! It will be interesting to see what (if anything)happens next.

Engine Room Fire in HMCS Protecteur

Oh I see PRE guys punching their screens right now for you even suggesting such a thing!! I am sure that is one of the COAs being discussed though.

Engine Room Fire in HMCS Protecteur

Further to this, I am now being told that junior PRO personnel are already being picked up for support to this summer's MARS training in the ORCAs. This is fine but remember that there is more to FG than MARS training. As was mentioned, the west coast ships are at a manning level that isĀ ...

Engine Room Fire in HMCS Protecteur

Unfortunately, the engineering world is ignored as our equipment and what happens in the hidden confines of machinery spaces is not sexy. I would love to say more about what was known about engineering problems on this class but can't. A fresh coat of paint and some new toys up top constitute a...

    Favourite War Movies

All that said, I always believe that even a badly made historic movie in this day and age of social media, serves a purpose. Many go home at some point following a movie to get the 'real' story. Two good examples are indeed Argo but also Pearl Harbor. Both movies triggered countless discussions...

Coolest WW 2 plane (split from F-35 thread)

Agree with most hands down; the Corsair. Not sure why but most survivors are Goodyear-built FGs. Since I was a kid, I have always liked the unclean yet functional lines of the 109 Emil. Though outclassed by 1940, arguably THE most revolutionary aircraft in the late 30s.
