Staffing PRes Summer IT (From: Cutting the CF/DND HQ bloat)

I find the direction of the discussion interesting as most people seem to be advocating for an increase in the training delta between Reg and Res in the army.  To give a different perspective, NAVRES has traditionally done the opposite for mbrs up until the OFP and looks to be further decreasing...

Leave Policy – Weekends (time off) Merged]

As a mbr of the reg force, there are no regulations precluding you from wearing your service dress (No.3) uniform at anytime and No.1's for appropriate ceremonial occasions (all within Canada).  In fact, in many cases as mentioned above, mbrs are not even allowed ashore unless they are in...

    Maritime Warfare Basic Course

It's one of the prereqs required for NAVRES MARS officers (along with BOC and WDO) in order to be loaded on the Coastal Operations Course (COPS).. which qualifies them to become OpsO's of Minor War Vessels (and COPS is also a prereq for promotion to LCdr).

Posting pics of MPO or MP grads

Not to nit-pick but it appears that the Lt platoon commander in this picture has his bottom half standing at attention and his top half standing at ease lol. Unfortunately this can be tough and just the way the military works sometimes especially when it comes to dress regs.  There's the dress...

HMCS Preserver smashes into dock - 4 Nov 2011

Probably a little less socially acceptable when the ship has just undergone a shiny new $45 Million refit in the RCN's eyes... and in today's digital age, information spreads much quicker and has wider distribution

Joining Military with an Electrical Engineering Degree

I'm not an expert but from what I understand from many of my friends who are engineers in the private sector... is that moving up in the private sector is also a lot more about management and especially project management, and less about actual engineering so that aspect might not be that...

HMCS Preserver smashes into dock - 4 Nov 2011

I'm somewhat surprised the change of CO's made the national newscast on at least both the CBC and CTV, not that it's not newsworthy but I just never figured the media to be on top of stuff like this..

    Status on Victoria-class Submarines?

Interesting video and neat to see how the subs operate.  Don't know much about subs but I couldn't help but notice some of the conning/engine orders the CO was giving near the end of the video.  Just curious but is the general/standard format of conning orders on subs different from surface ships?

    New DEU ?!

I think it's great.  There is no reason why I should have to change my head dress just to go from the ship to ashore.  It's part of our operational dress and I think it looks professional.  Navy pers 'seem to be wearing even when not on ship' because they are, it's authorized, and it's practical.

    BMQ army vs. BMQ navy

Interesting..I wonder if it will still be equivalent to the reg force course.  Personally, 6 weeks doesn't seem like long enough to get the true 'Basic' experience but I guess the Army reserves has been doing weekend courses for years anyways and this will help introduce more flexibility for...

wow...he was apparently a reservist before transferring reg too.  The Navy Int community is not that big, I'm sure I'll be hearing about this in the wardroom too..

    Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP)-RMC 2000 - 2018 [Merged]

Your title is a bit misleading as strictly speaking, I do not believe the situation you described makes you a 'mature student' especially for the purposes of university applications or ROTP for that matter.
