    ROTP Dilemma...help!

Vern, Since I'm priviledged enough to be in on this joke, I'll say for clarity that it started at the Mega, though I have no clue if it continued at RMC. Good times they were...

    No Special Academic Leave?

From what I've seen, SAL policies vary from place to place. Contrast myself to one of my fellow OCdt's out at Comox on OJT this past summer: I was sent home and put on 3 weeks SAL until the Academic year begins, whereas the other OCdt was sent home to spend 3 weeks at a CFRC. Same OJT start and...

    Airforce Courses List

There's also the NBC School in Borden, they have a course schedule on the DIN. You could learn to be a Unit Radiation Safety Officer, NBC Instructor, etc... [EDIT] Or if you're fit and lucky enough, there's Basic Para at Trenton

What's the dumbest thing you heard said today?

Over the PA at YYC: "Would Peter Blocker please report to Gate 34 please, Peter Blocker to Gate 34 please" That one had to be phony...

    Comox Thread- Merged

Atmosphere... as in the weather? It's usually pretty nice. Rains every now and again, gets hot-but-not-too-hot, nor is it humid. Atmosphere as in working environment... so long as you get the job done, don't stress about work environment. For official purposes, there's a few chances to travel...

    RFT

There is (or at least was) an RFT instructor on the board, I think it was machine462 or something of the like. I don't know if they're still active or not. I too was on RFT for a few days about a year ago. I can try to answer any questions you might have.

    Canadian based bio/chemwarfare preparedness supply?

If we eliminate the terrorism factor (i.e. you won't be attacked with CBRN mechanisms), you are incredibly unlikely to be exposed to a CBRN event. Even with the terrorism factor, the probability is still incredibly low. Any biological or radiological materials are incredibly well packed, and are...

My son going to Afghanistan, looking for support and information

Another Mom, Always remember that you are not alone in your fears. For every soldier, they all have parents, siblings, spouses, and children who all fear for their well-being while on tour. Your son is doing us all a great service, so keep your chin up, and be proud of what he's doing. As...

Taliban leader surrenders after he hears British special forces are 'closing in'

Don't know about you, but I'd rather surrender and hide behind III-GC than take on the SAS.

Telus is going to charge customers $0.15/per incoming text message

Or a student, that's what I used. I called and got Voicemail + CID free (which I was previously paying $12/mo for), and they tacked on 250 text messages per month free. Telus' Loyalty and Retentions is a godsend to those of us who are thrifty.

CANFORGEN 139/08 - AMENDMENT TO NDA

So now we get a choice: Standing or General. I've never experienced nor witnessed a Court Martial, so I'm in the dark about the implications of this. Anyone care to comment?

Handed in my final major assignment for the 2 classes I'm taking. I should start studying for the exams, but I'm burned out at the moment. I'm going to sip a cup of tea while I set myself down in front on the TV for a couple hours. Modified work schedule tomorrow, which means more sleep for me!

    Weapon effect WWII

It's all about effectiveness at range, and viability on automatic fire. .303 is effective beyond 1000m. Definitely a choice for a sniper weapon, but the ridiculous muzzle energy out of a .303 weapon makes it all but impractical for a personal weapon with automatic fire. 7.62mm (.308 as you...
